This is going to be the death knell of the event. Viewership has cratered in the last few years to begin with. Remove the one remaining attraction for much of the male audience and soon no network is going to want to air it.
Miss usa doesnt need men to preserve its prestige or relevance lmao.they are not the kardashians who are in the business of viewership. There will always be more than enough women interested in applying and watching..etc
I don't think many watch it regardless. The only time it gets press is when a contestant gives a dumb answer to a question. Now they are going to spend more time on that stuff.
It’s the same bullshit that leads every kid to get a trophy because they are all winners. Now every woman is beautiful no matter how ugly she is. In a world where girls are Boy Scouts I guess we have to get used to beauty pageants where beauty is irrelevant.
I managed to sit through one such pageant, not sure if it was Miss USA, Miss America, or what, 20 or so years ago, and discovered that it wasn’t worth it. Whether it’s worthwhile for the contestants or not, I can’t say, but it was pretty boring to watch. Even the swimsuit “competition” was pretty lame. Almost all of them were stick figures.
I'm not sure if it was Miss USA or Miss America either but I (used) to enjoy the evening gown competition (no homo). I like a little something left to the imagination and they're elegant. :)

Sure it does. The 2017 pageant was down to 2.9 million viewers, which was less than those watching three different competing networks on or around the same time. That was down from 4 million the year before and is an anemic result for a once a year pageant that costs so much to put on. If they lose many more viewers, If they lose many more viewers, they won't be able command enough advertising revenue to cover the costs of production.
Oh to be young again, when one can just spit out a random and completely un-researched opinion as if it were a indisputable fact. ;)

last commentHaven't watched it in 35 years. Its trying to promote conformist values.
Don't even like the Victoria's Secret Company for the same reasons, too conservative.

Well said JS69. It’s the sad reality of this bizarre “fair” world!

@JS69, do you listen to Peter Schiff’s podcasts? He also brought up the boy scouts thing in his podcast in response to this news.

Never heard of Schiff. But clearly the stupid Boy Scouts change is closely related to the philosophy that led to this idiocy.
