NFL Draft Starts Tonight

Anywhere there are Titties.
The NFL Draft. The event where every fan thinks their team got what will make them a winner for next year. They are holding it at JerryWorld in Arlington, TX this year. The Cleveland Browns have 9 picks, 5 of which are in the first two rounds, two of which are in the first 4 picks.

Do you think the Browns will screw that up ? Are you going to watch ?

Isn't that an awfully large venue. Seems to be better to have it in an arena vs. a stadium.

The Browns track record suggests that they will fuck up their opportunity.

I admit to following and enjoying the NFL draft. But it is funny how so many of us have “opinions” about it even though we aren’t scouts and haven’t seen most of these guys even play at all in college. Sure, I watch college football but I can’t actually have a valid opinion on some lineman who played for a team I’ve seen, much less any other prospect. That doesn’t stop me from having an opinion, of course.

This draft's story is Shaquem Griffin.

"Do you think the Browns will screw that up ?"

Why is that even a question? Of course, they will.

Disclaimer: As a rabid Steelers fan, I may be just a TEENSY bit biased.... ;-)

Regarding the Browns, I've been telling friends of mine for years, different faces same results. No matter who is in charge they fuck it up and it starts with their pathetic meddling owner.

And although I won't be surprised if the curse continues I honestly believe they have the best front office personnel they've ever had since their return in 1999. Will it make a difference this year? Who knows?

The Browns will probably pick a punter with the first pick. That is one of their most used positions.

I just heard they are taking baker with the first pick.....so ya, screw up once again. U think Johnny football woulda taught them to stay away from guys like that. I guess that's why they are the Cleveland browns. Smh

I consider myself a smalltime draftnik . I can't put in the time I would truly like to to study all of the players, but I watch film when I can on a number of players, put together rankings and watch as many hours of the draft as I can all three days.

Based on that definition of a smalltime draftnik, how many of you consider yourselves a smalltime pornnik?

The draft, and NFL in general, seems to be becoming too much of a spectacle (a little too much soap opera)

"5 of which are in the first two rounds" Five young men are about to see their career spiral down in a way they would never expect!

"The Browns will probably pick a punter with the first pick. That is one of their most used positions".--they actually had arguably the best punter in the game two years ago and the meathead they have coaching got pissed at him because he wouldn't tackle a punt returned in an exhibition game two years ago --against Carolina......Carolina picked him up off the waiver list minutes after the Browns cut him....taught the guy a lesson ( the lesson being there is always hope the Browns are stupid enough to let you go with a Get out of Jail free card.)

I think Papi might be ready to convert to watching the football played in the rest of the world.

    Big game today.

Browns ain't taking Mayfield at #1. It'll be Darnold most likely, or maybe Allen. Then again at 5 PM this evening I may be wrong.

The Draft?! The draft is better known as our superbowl, for us Browns fans.

The punter comment is funny given the *other* meaning for punter on this website. But seriously, that's a good idea. With a good punter we might actually get some good field position this year, lol!

I meant ain't gonna be Allen. I think Darnold or perhaps Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield goes No. 1 overall to the Browns.

All the top QBs had warts but Mayfield would have been my last choice of the four. I'm already disappointed in this year's draft.

How can our OP even think about something like this, after his time in Tijuana?

Even if the Browns thought that Mayfield was their guy. They could have traded down about 5 spots, picked up another 2nd round pick or so, and Baker would had still been there.

But the draft is really won in the 2nd and 3rd day. Whoever gets quality players with the later rounds is usually who wins championships. That is where New England always does well.

So @Papi what’s the scoop on this running back the Giants took with their first round pick, I’m reading that he’s being compared to Ezekiel Elliott.

^ I'm not sold on Saquon Barkley - I think he was a man among boys in college but won't have that advantage/luxury in the NFL and I don't think he will be gangbusters in the NFL - but - that's only a prediction on my part

he's gonna be great chulo. he ran behind an awful offensive line and was still exceptional. mark my words

Anyone think the Giants are gonna be competitive this year, seems to me they think Eli can still handle the offense but I have my doubts. Plus their division is going to be tough w/Philly & the Cowboys going after them.

25 - Having a top flight RB takes a whole lot of pressure off of a QB. Eli did look terrible this past year. But Saquon may make a difference next year. They won't pass the Eagles though.

I agree but still there is no plan B without a quality back up quarterback, Eli has been a reliable guy for a long time but he is getting old and if the O-Line isn’t 100% he is going to get hurt, he isn’t and never has been the most mobile, he’s a traditional pocket passer and they need a center.
  • flagooner

^ Eli is a quality backup QB. The problem is that he is their starter.
  • Countryman5434

The giants will never be competitive again as long as they have eli

An admitted OSU bias before I speak but keep in mind besides one big play Saquon had other 24 touches (20 runs, four catches), for just 31 yards.

I don't think it was his line being bad as much as his tendendancy is to cut back on his runs--it makes for great highlight film, but in the NFL it's harder to be great when you run with his style. It takes an overly aggressive defense to succeed--or missed tackles.

If I recall correctly OSU had a less than a 3% chance of beating Penn State according to the odds makers and pollsters but once they stopped Barkley they took control of the game.

As far as being good without a great QB---I recall the Vikings did well last year without a great starter.

Heard on sports-radio than since Eli won the super-bowl, he's been the lowest-rated QB of all QBs

@Warrenboy75- I don’t think a quarterback needs to be great to keep their team competitive but to win and make it into the playoffs the guy needs to be young and strong if he isn’t great, Eli is showing his age more and more, it’s only a matter of time before he gets hurt, he has been banged up regularly waiting in OBJ to get clear, and yes a good running back will relieve some of the pressure by giving him an option, but the O line is suspect and needs a strong center, to hold up in today’s super strong , fast NFL.
I have been Giant fan as far back as I can remember, coming from a family of Big Blue fans, and I’m gonna root for them forever, but it would be great to see them competitive again.

Eli will ride his last name right into the HOF. Ridiculous.
