Here is Craigslist's statement about the issue.
US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.
Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.
To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!

In the sense that we're all going to jail? No, we haven't done anything wrong.
In the sense that we're going to lose all of our favorite websites? Yeah, probably.
Will the Monger-in-Chief step up and save us from this travesty by vetoing it?
There will be more dancers at strip clubs.

So far, four subreddits related to sex have banned: Escorts, Male Escorts, Hookers, and SugarDaddy.

That's right. As I recall you agree not to mention anything related to pay-per-meet. They're big enough to hire some good lawyers. My guess is that SA will survive and market themselves as an online dating site.
Reddit "SugarLifestyle" is still up today.

The vote was passed with a veto-proof majority, so Trump can't stop it even if he wants to.
My theory is that some politicians secretly want to stop patronizing sex workers. So passing this law is the metaphorical equivalent of nailing the cookie jar shut to avoid cheating on your diet.
