The newest crackdown is hardly surprising. It's just the latest in a series of campaigns over the years by the Chinese government to end the practice of funeral strippers. China's Ministry of Culture has deemed such performances "uncivilised" and announced that anyone who hires a stripper to entice people to a funeral will be "severely punished".
I read the practice started in Taiwan. If I'm invited to a funeral or wedding in that part of the country, wonder if it's ok to ask if there will be strippers stripping? In a country that bans eating or filming eating a banana in public, this doesn't surprise me too much.
Bridget, is it too late to say I'm sorry now? Yeah, I know that I let you down, but I've seen the error of my ways. I realize you are extremely popular on this board and the overwhelming favorite of all the PL's here, and that I have been insufficiently fulsome in praising your posts and sudsy profile pics. I will make amends.
