Less BackPage = lower quality at higher prices

Maybe it's just me but has anyone else noticed that since Backpage has basically been castrated the quality of escorts has significantly when down with in many places a double in prices. I don't know if it's related (but assume so since options are now getting limited) but many of the dancers I've encountered are now asking for significantly more than in the recent past. Anyone else encountering the same?

I began to notice something was going on last month and I posted a thread about it:

https://www.tuscl.net/?page=post&id=5274…

Most of the posters here didn't agree or didn't notice what I was seeing at the time. I haven't really noticed an uptick in prices or a downtick in quality, but I have seen noticeable changes.

First off, anyone who's familiar with Backpage, you'll notice that the ad volume is way down. Go to your local BP page and click on the Dating section and search for a common escort term. Words like anal, greek, BBW, couple, snowbunny, party, cardate, etc., and you'll see that, although there are still some girls available, it's slim pickings. I did a search for some of these terms and, in a few instances, I couldn't believe that there wasn't even a single ad that came up! I mean, I didn't think it was quite that bad!

It definitely seems to be affecting traffic in some local club in my area. I went to a club in north Jersey after the Exxxotica expo earlier this month, and it was packed cheek-to-jowl with horny losers. And I also visited my favorite go-to club in Burlington County, in south Jersey, last Saturday night and I couldn't even find a seat except right near the door (which was fucking freezing).

On the other hand, I'm not yet seeing higher prices, but I am seeing some pretty new faces. Perhaps the better-looking girls who might otherwise have gone to BP have instead been forced to work a pole. So it's a double edged sword, and there can even be some benefits. Overall, although I don't really like BP (or even escorts in general much anymore), I still am totally opposed to the government messing with them. It's wrong regardless of how it affects us PLs.

Anyway, what part of the country do you usually go clubbing in? You have reviews from several states. Maybe it's a regional thing, IDK.

here in nyc area picking are still plenty enough. just the higher quality ones are lacking in quantity. also lots of the same faces over and over again.
if i find one that's an 8+ i have to consider it as too good to be true. if i answer one of those ads could be a major bait and switch waiting to be pulled, or worse even a sting. only used bp twice this year. maybe one more time before the year is over, but in no hurry.

They’re charging and making it impossible to pay to post ads. It’s more in my area than anywhere else also

@bree1989,

They're also requiring that the girls link their ads to a social media page now. Plus the payment system is very difficult to deal with. I know a couple of girls who used to post on BP occasionally before this all started, and they would be willing to pay for the ads but the system will not accept their payment at all. It's crazy.

Was actually talking to a friend of mine last night who read my post. He's former LE and what he said is the people he knows says that with BP now pretty nonexistent for escorts it has caused a lot of them to start walking the streets and trolling the bars again looking for clients, and many that were independent had to get with a pimp. He said (and I agree) that it has made it much more risky for everyone involved (girls, clients, and LE).

None of this should surprise anyone, really. This is exactly what well-intentioned government actions often lead to: bad outcomes. The only "good news" is that BP was really originally born in the first place because the government started cracking down on Craigslist. I mean, I'm sure BP existed well before that, but that's when it started coming into its own as a safe haven for sex workers and their customers, circa 2010-2011. So hopefully someone will come up with an alternative to BP soon, too, and it will fly under the radar for a few years, just like BP did.

Backpage was free for a basic ad, now you have to pay and pay through a third party website that takes gift cards...weird shit. So less girls post, and the ones who do have a more captive audience. At least that's what has happened here.

I did some quick research on Atlanta BP. Still lots of ads, but the character of them has changed. Doesn't seem like there are as many AMP ads. The pictures on ads look more like selfies than like stolen professional session pics.
