Top clubs in Northeast Tri State area (NJ, NY, PA)

I made a discussion a while back about some analysis I did in Excel, which resulted in a big bar graph. I recently revised it to factor in the number of reviews (i.e. a club that has more reviews probably has more customers, and if it has more customers on a regular basis then it is probably better than the other clubs in the area).

So now I have a list of what my analysis has determined as the best clubs in the New York, New Jersey, Philly area, and there are a few big name clubs thrown into the list to serve as a reference (TJ Hong Kong, Follies, etc). Here is the list, let me know if you think this is at least somewhat accurate and if you think other clubs in the area should definitely be in this list. From best to worst:

*indicates low # of reviews, so it's likely overrated.

I don’t know that much about the overall club scene in the NY area, so I can’t offer an assessment of how your set of clubs stack up against the population as a whole.

I also don’t use the numeric ratings as my guide. The numeric ratings are ok - but I would tend to examine the distribution of the population of numeric ratings instead (which I don’t think is available). It’s most likely an arithmetic mean - which could be skewed by a handful of newbie ratings.

I hope your trip is a successful one. I think the NYC area offers a nice variety of clubs (with varying types of dancers - and varying levels of classiness - and varying levels of mileage and extras). Most folks should be able to find something that suits their desires.

The classy clubs - that are closer to the city - can be much more pricey. They try to get NYC money out of you - even though they aren’t in NYC.

Cashman, I agree about the numeric ratings being somewhat unreliable, that’s why I made the error bars larger and more negative for clubs that had fewer reviews. Those clubs with 30 reviews are likely skewed by the newbie ratings. But for clubs that have 1000+ reviews, like Follies, the error bars are disproportionately smaller because only those clubs worthy of so many reviews will have that many reviews. Also I did not include the “vibe” rating because that’s not typically what guys are looking for in a strip club.

Did you add in a time factor? Some of those 1000 reviews are from years ago and may not reflect the club today

Your results are too hard to read for the avg layman, u should state the results in English (vs math) and maybe just explain your methodology w.r.t. how you achieved your results

@K, no I did not, that information would take too much time to obtain for 100+ clubs. I got all of these ratings on 120+ clubs, neatly organized in excel, in about an hour by extracting text from a single tuscl.net page (the page that lists all the NYC clubs and all the nearby clubs). Getting the date-of-first-review would take too long.

@Papi, it's more or less just the "value" rating times the "vampiness" rating (so maximum of 10*10=100), and then subtract some amount based on a formula--lots of reviews, subtract just a little; relatively few reviews, subtract disproportionately a lot more. That's not literally the formula, the formula actually is the cubed root of a ratio of reviews... but we don't need to get into that. I just know that if a club has 2000 reviews, then the rating is much more reliable and accurate than the rating for a club that has less than 10 reviews.

(Follies has 2100 reviews, so 4.8 is subtracted from its rating of 8.8*7.8=69 to get 64. A club called Mermaids Bar in NYC, on the other hand, has 3 reviews, so a whopping 43.0 is subtracted from its rating of 7.6*8.1=62 to get 19. This way, a 19 is much worse than a 64, as it should be for a club with 3 reviews vs. a club with 2100 reviews. Mermaids' raw 62 rating is undeservedly close to Follies' 69 rating, which is the reason for the subtraction).

As a reality check, notable by its absence is Playhouse lounge. I wouldvexpect it to show up ???

Good point. It is not on the list because.... well, I only took the data from the near-NYC list on TUSCL. I didn't take data from the near-Philly list. I should probably do that, Playhouse apparently has 2000+ reviews. Gotta add that one, let's see where it falls on my list...

If you are looking for extras - tittilations isn’t worth a trip. I’ve been there - and it’s not good. They have a good number of hot dancers on stage - but that’s about it.

I thought it would be fun - went to tits one night with about $1000 - and left with about $800 - and with lots of frustration.

Building on Cashman's post WRT extras, take GGR off the list. That is not happening in the club and OTC takes a bit of effort to get to know the ladies. HP? in my experience you need to be a regular before you have a shot at it

I'm not exactly making a list of extras clubs... I don't think that can be done by numerical analysis alone. I'm just making a list of the best clubs in the area, which should definitely include those clubs that sometimes provide extra. From what I hear, GGR sounds like a good non-extras club. Playhouse Lounge is right next to it on the list. PL provides extras, but from the reviews i've read the girls are not so hot there. Aaaand... hottness kinda matters to me and to a lot of other guys. So is GGR on par with PL for a young single guy who likes hot girls? That's what the list indicates, I just have to find out by going.

I’m glad your not only looking for extras clubs, as that might be difficult for a purely numeric evaluation. With your set of clubs, you should have a very good time.

@Futuretrackstar, there are definitely some hotties at the Playhouse Lounge, but not the extras girls who show up in one review after another. It's true, some of their higher mileage extras-machines are a bit past their prime. No doubt about that. The hotter chicks at the Playhouse tend to require a little more time getting acquainted in order to pay off. That's been my experience, anyway. At GGR the hot chicks are the majority, but they are almost all zero mileage.

This is my neck of the woods and I've been to almost every single one of the NY, PA,NJ ones and here is my take: If you are judging them from an extras standpoint you can immediately take off the list the Manhattan ones ( The lido Room, Private Eyes, Scores). As far as the other ones, Johnny A's should be at the top of the list if you are judging from an extras standpoint followed distantly by the others.

I'm gonna have to take Mulaney's words with a grain of salt as his ratings are all extreme and exaggerated. Delilah's does not deserve a 10 on "vampiness" and a 1 on "value". Nor does the Providence RI club deserve 10's across the board. He gives out 10s and 1s like they're candy. For a club to get a 10 or a 1, those are extreme ratings that only <1% of clubs should get. For a club to deserve three 10s, it would have to be like a German FKK combined with TJ's HK, and located in the middle of a major American metropolis.

I have nothing against Risqué but prefer PH and have not been to Risqué in over a year because of that preference. I am wondering if it is time I gave them another try.

@Futuretrackstar, I'm not surprised about this because a lot of the girls from 2004 are still working there today! I guess you can't even call them "girls" anymore at this point, because of their age. Those are the high mileage all-stars. But as I said, there are plenty of hot chicks working there, too. It's just that the younger hot chicks may not be able to go from zero to BJ in 3 seconds, the way the Playhouse veterans can.
