Moshae Stephens, 25, and Augustine Navarro, 30, are charged with aggravated robbery. Austin police caught them as they burst out the door of the club, located on the west side of Interstate 35 north of 49th Street, each with a pistol in hand, according to the arrest affidavits. Two suspects in a vehicle, a man behind the wheel and a woman in the back seat, sped away from the scene as Stephens and Navarro were arrested just after 4 a.m. on Saturday, the affidavits say.
The two armed men had pushed their way into the club, waving their pistols in the air, the reports say.
Navarro waved his gun as he ordered workers and customers to get on the ground, the reports say.
Stephens went to the rear of the business, kicked in the door of the office and dragged the manager out of a closet, the arrest affidavit stated. He forced her to show him the money that was in a bag in the office and then take him to the safe, demanding that she open it at gunpoint and put its contents into the bag as well, according to the arrest affidavit. Stephens also forced her to disconnect the business’ surveillance video recorder and give it to him, the affidavit stated.
In addition to being charged with aggravated robbery, Navarro has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and is being held in Travis County Jail on $300,000 bail. Stephens is being held on $100,000 bail. No further information was available as to the whereabouts of the two other suspects involved with the robbery.
