Assault In Berryessa San Jose Area!

San a guy trying load a car from the curb side unto a flat bed tow truck, with the pretty young woman owner standing there watching. Or this is what I thought. Took a long time, even moving the truck with the car 1/2 on and half off, and the car was in PARK.

So after watching for about 15min, I walked over to their side of the street and talked to the woman. They I realized that they driver was trying to unload the car, with it in PARK, and the steering locked, and get it close to the curb. That is actually very hard to do, and this driver, from West Africa, was an expert.

The woman said she was assaulted. Stopped on the street, they broke the driver's side window and made she and a friend get out and kneel on the pavement, and they also took the cars keys. Getting the car re-keyed is her immediate problem, then deal with the window glass.

I thought inappropriate for me to ask any further details.

She seemed ok, nice college age, nice looking girl. Seemed like probable college student.

Happened in the N. White area of San Jose, close to Milpitas. I assume they just wanted cash. Taking the keys was just to facilitate their escape. So I assume.

Can't find newspaper account, but on crime map I likely have found two such incidents, just decribed as assault.

San Jose does seem to have an escalating crime problem, but lower reporting and less police.

I used to box at the gym on White, it was smack dab in the ghetto, I felt like I needed a gun just to get to the gym to get beat up there :) Horrible area, if it's at the eastside SJ end

Thanks for that info Subra. I'm familiar with most of San Jose, and I pass through much of it on foot, bicycle, and by car regularly. That far North on White, not that often, but just a bit further South yes.

Some of it might come across as disorderly. But I have never felt specific neighborhoods to be unsafe.

Now with this assault, I don't really know the whole story. I decided that I should not ask. But I am concerned.

On the whole, I have found San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley to be more areas for concern.
