Never been to the BHoF but saw it year’s ago via an episode of History Channel's ‘American Pickers.’

Mike and Frank toured the place with a retired stripper tour guide. If I remember correctly, it wasn’t X-rated but risque enough that Frank blushed and History censors blurred some parts. One forgotten aspect was that many radio and stand-up comics got their start in Burlesque halls.

Years ago a local club’s strippers put on a burlesque-style show. Under Missouri’s new law complete nudity was usually forbidden. However, because ‘burlesque’ is considered an American art form strippers got nude^^^ Great show, really entertaining. The strippers showed their comedic skills and did some amazing pole and seductive routines. One gal stripped nude and climbed and then descended a rope suspended from the ceiling over the audience area. On both trips she did some athletic routines and poses showing off her breasts, legs, ass, and pussy, spread-eagle.

Also some years ago a Kansas stripper and university student [yeah I verified it, read on#] invited me to attend a ‘celebration of burlesque’ show her university performing arts group was putting on. It was a charity event for an area service club, so most of the attendees were older club members and their wives or SOs.

This girl didn’t do a stage routine but was dressed in a revealing costume and showed off her comedic talent in between acts. One of the hits of the show for the guys was an early thirties looking stripper who did a great seductive routine. Brought in tons of $$$ tips and buys from shot girls circulating the club. At the end of the show this gal turned out to be a guy! The old farts took it surprisingly well even with some of their wives needling them for being so naive.

After the show I learned my young stripper’s full name and met her parents. To them the story was I knew her because, though she was majoring in business law, she was interested in my field of study and I had attended the same university many years ago.

America is dotted with all kinds of off beat museums and road side attractions. Evidently there is a Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. Anyone ever visited this Hall of Fame? Burlesque was pretty conservative compared to current day strip clubs. Actually, this could make for an interesting museum theme, strippers and strip clubs. I'd be most interested in a display on the evolution (actually shrinkage) of stripper costumes over the years. My favorite section would be the recent emergence of ITC extras, especially if they had some "hands on" simulations, like the aviation museums have a flight simulator.
