Awesome Night Sky!
One of the coolest images in the night sky is always the conjunction of Venus and the Crescent Moon.
Now here, the last week has been over cast and raining. Today it was clear. Last night Venus was clearly visible, at sunset, as it is the brightest item in the sky, after the Sun and Moon.
Last night there was no Moon, as it was near the Sun. Tonight we should have a Crescent Moon right under Venus, and remaining near Venus for a few days.
Watch as the Sun is going down.

Has anyone here actually seen Mercury with their own eyes?

last commentSaw Venus close to the Moon after sunset, as indicated above. But it was a couple of days later than I had expected. Not able to see all the way down to horizon effected this.
Now, a month later, also saw Venus and Moon last night. But it is different. Looking to the West, Venus is further to the North. Not sure how much longer Venus will be visible at sunset, especially in urban area where one cannot see all the way down to horizon. It cycles back to being visible before sunrise, and with the waxing moon.
Seeing Orion each clear night, and also Sirius.

3 Pyramids of Giza, mirrors Orion's Belt. That far south, Orion probably passes directly overhead.

Does the Sphinx mirror Orion's Sword? Maybe.

So Venus shows tonight, in the West, right after sunset. Brightest object right after the Sun and Moon.
But then in the West we will have Jupiter and Spica, need to see which is which.

so saying Jupiter is -2.45, that means brighter than zero. So that is real bright.
So this is what I have been seeing now each night for some weeks.
theskylive.com
yes, so go by apparent magnitude.
astro.wisc.edu
Jupiter is much brighter than Spica.
This kind of stuff is of interest particularly because there is not that much which can be seen against the city light levels.
Jupiter is very very clear. Both Venus and Jupiter look like discs to the naked eye, instead of just points.

And again thank you founder for re-opening our old threads, this will really help!

Due to humidity and city light, can't really see Spica

So the most consistent and clear objects, after the moon, are Jupiter in the East, and Venus in the West.
