OT: MSN News Poll

Avatar for gammanu95
gammanu95Have you ever tried to stick a silver dollar into a stripper's G-string?

A poll asks how people feel about the future of the nation with Donald Trump as president. The choices and votes are: Very Optimistic 38%, guardedly optimistic 17%, somewhat concerned 9%, or deeply concerned 36%. The divisions closely mirror the demographics in the election turnout. I voted guardedly optimistic. In the primaries I supported many different candidates as the dropped out one by one. If Donald does all he promised to do, I would be very optimistic. Certainly the Street, businesses, and industrials agree with investment in America rising to levels not seen since the Reagan presidency. How do the rest of you feel?

I'd rate myself guardedly optimistic, and I have changed my mind since the day of the election. I think Trump will be a good president but Obama will be a tough act to follow. Nevertheless, Trump can turn the current boom into super-turbo charged boom, gonna be fun!

Somewhat concerned only due to a pattern of change has been strong with the last two term presidents, in regards to economics and job opportunities.

Has nothing to do with who is in office. The political baiters can fuck off.

Deeply concerned.
Mostly about getting into a war (hopefully not nuclear) with some country.

But, a country boy can survive. So I'll be alright in my bunker if it does happen.

The rest of you are out of luck. lol.

I'm actually optimistic, somewhat between guarded optimistic and very optimistic. President Trump seems to have tapped into the rage of the white working class. I probably should have supported him even earlier. Time will tell.

My #1 hope is Trump doesn't start a nuclear war. We will survive all other damage he causes.

LOL @ mushroom clouds. The problem with some of President Trump's statements, is it seems "almost like" he thinks the 2nd Amendment applies to other countries. 'Ya know, like he thinks they have the "right to bear arms" and "should provide their own defense," as if thermonuclear warheads are the nation-state analog to rifles and handguns (like for citizens).

I think maybe the NRA brainwashed President Trump a little too much. ;)

This all started with me correctly calling Trump'/ long shot victory. So I'm very optimistic.

^^^^Actually @JohnSmith69 I said in august of 2015 that he needs to be taken seriously but take solace in the fact that even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Remember he can drop a million a nite in any strip club and the interest he earns from that billion is more than he spends that nite. Don't necessarily agree with him but to not take him seriously is a major mistake

Yeah, I'm not following JS's logic. Okay so he correctly called Trump's win, but what does that have to do with whether or not you are optimistic on the guy's presidency? Seems like orthogonal issues to me.

Not really trying to start a revolution. That is too far out. But I am building a counter culture organization, and we will make hit and run strikes. Right now I am engaged in local political struggles, because I need some scalps, something to show, to help my organization build.

Those of us who have skills and do real work, we are always at risk for being turned into equipment by the financial sector parasites. So we have a common interest with all workers. And it goes beyond this, because with less labor being needed, our society also gets scape goats now from those directed into the mental health system, or getting labeled with learning disabilities. All of this stuff is bogus, just white coats helping parents to abuse their children. And it constitutes the re-emergence of the bogus sciences of Eugenics and Social Darwinism. So with all of these oppressed people we have a natural affinity.

Pledges of non-violence only amount to appeals to pity, and they strengthen those who make the bogus eugenic arguments. And only when we are organized and when we demonstrate routinely that we use All Available Means to protect ourselves and each other, will there be a modicum of safety and stability.

deeply concerned - but the good news is it will seem like he is kicking ass. The plan as I understand is to lower taxes and increase spending. Only one way to do that - debt! And a lot of it. We'll bust open the credit cards and party for a few years. Good times. But eventually the party is going to end and, after all that money flows to disgustingly rich.

The poor and middle class will pay for the debt by reduced social security, medicare, Medicaid and a crumbling infrastructure. None of this shit is going to help the people that voted for Trump iin the long run.

I hope I'm wrong.

Dude, what on earth are you talking about? These things are pretty much extinct and having been dying off more and more for decades. Where is this evidence of a "re-emergence" (other than in your imagination)?

Yes, its like Reagan on Crack.

Remember after the 1986 crash, people were saying the Dow would never again exceed 4000. It was that bad. And with each of these boom and bust cycles, we have more and more people living on the extreme margins, shit jobs or less.

Of course some of this is Trump, but some is people like Paul Ryan who figure that they can play him.

You know how it went with Reagan, slashing social programs, but more than making up for it with military spending. And then tax cuts, trying to break the public sector. And then it all blew up in 1986, and boom times never came back until Clinton and Gore took office and cut military spending and imposed a 2% high income tax.

The council of ricks is cautiously optimistic. We believe that we will be able to manipulate Trump and his hairless ape cronies. The barnacle has instructed us to take a wait and see attitude.

Personally I worry about the need to protect the environment. There are too many of you hairless apes and I feel that we need to thin your herds. But rickthebarnacle is a wise arthropod, so I will follow his advice.

@gothamyte: Ok, watched it. You're right, some parts were okay: if he would have stuck that would have been okay. But he rambled about the media's campaign against him, how great he is. How we should have kept the oil in Iraq. No sure exactly how you do that. That got some laugh as in "what an idiot" laughs.
