Strip club dancer sought by NJ authorities captured in West Scranton
SCRANTON — “Lilly” worked as a dancer at the New Jersey strip club Stage Dolls.
Sometimes she would meet men in secluded places outside of work and sometimes her boyfriend would rob those men at gunpoint, police say.
On Thursday, Scranton police arrested “Lilly,” whose real name is Kayla Candy Rodriguez, after they found her in West Scranton. Hackettstown, New Jersey police alerted local officers that she was hiding from their warrant.
On at least two occasions, police say, Rodriguez lured men to places where her then-boyfriend, Franklin Williams Jr., could rob them.
In June, she arranged to meet a man at a Hackettstown restaurant, but upon arriving told him she didn’t want to drink, police said.
The man asked her to come to his apartment, and she agreed, but then left when she learned more people were inside.
Shortly after, Rodriguez called the man asking for help, saying her car broke down nearby.
When the man arrived, he told police Franklin stuck a gun in his face and demanded valuables. Franklin took his cellphone and $800 in cash, the victim reported.
During the robbery, Rodriguez appeared calm and in no danger from the robber, he told police. The victim later identified her in a photo lineup, police said.
Rodriguez initially cooperated with investigators, but then fled to Scranton and hid for several weeks, police said.
Local officers found Rodriguez on Thursday riding in a Jeep.
Police charged Rodriguez with being a fugitive from justice. She faces extradition to New Jersey on robbery, burglary and assault charges.
