@SJG: Not sure where you get the idea that I think Dystopian futures are preferable or likely. My ideal is Athenian democracy where everyone has equal political power. A real dictatorship of the proletariat. Not this liberal/socialist crap which any Marxist worth their salt would tell you just makes things tolerable to delay the revolution inevitably.
As for dumb and stupid people. Yeah, there are alot of them on TUSCL, but have no fear, I don't believe that you are one of them. In my ideal society, they find a way to reverse the damage recreational drugs did to zipperhead's brain. There is a cure for HIV to save the day for HIV. There are good drugs to actually keep Nina's anxiety disorder in check, so behavior on here improves, etc..

I'm a little confused by what you mean? Is everyone working in finance and/or on AI working to bring about a two-tier society? So companies like GOGL, MSFT, TSLA in addition to Wall Street? If so are they doing it knowingly or unwittingly? Or are you just saying it's just a few of us wittingly working toward it?
Also I discussed this a bit with RandomMember today. What I see happening on Wall Street in finance is bounce now on Trump might even last a few years, but then automation decimating the field. I see the top quant funds (there are about four of them now) knocking all the weaker players. There's talk of crowd sourced quant funds which could open it to the public to participate and I think the four I mentioned will start to see pressure to open themselves up more publically.
After that though they will get to be about equally good and then just trade money amongst themselves and lose slightly to market averages due to commissions and fees. At that point though AI is probably so far along that we might start 30% returns on the market as the average. And then all the Kurzweil stuff shortly after that. Probably basic income kicks in slightly before that.

Yep, I will say that SJG and zippy are probably the only two on TUSCL less popular than me and even then SJG does have some supporters. zippy only has one and no matter desperate strategy he tries: worshipping Juice, going on a crusade against me it doesn't help (for anyone else that would be sure fire ticket).
Now I should say SJG had quite a few supporters a year ago before he started to up his talk about violence. I bet that caused the numbers to fall quite a bit.
At the same time as being unpopular I am also quite popular among the more intelligent members of the board. Moderator on the mathematics and Zen of that. :-)
I don't know what to say, SJG. I've told you what my political ideals are in quite some detail. I don't see what reason you have to disbelieve that what I say are my ideals are in fact what they are. Other than perhaps you needing a wind mill to charge?
