Another locality seemingly wanting to get rid of its SCs

From a recent review of Solid Gold in Oakland Park, FL (near Ft Lauderdale): “... Do not bother with SG or its neighbor Pure Platinum anymore. Both should be closing soon if they haven't already. Oakland Park busted these establishments for their lewd behavior. Their agreement with the city ran out in November and OP will not remew and wants them closed down. They can stay open only without nudity, lap dances, and alchohol! They are appealing, but my bet is on the city, and they cannot stay open under those conditions. So go to Scarletts or even the clubs North in Pompeno but do not bother to go to Oakland Park anymore ...” [view link]

    Seems lime most of Broward County (next county over/north of Miami-Dade county) is wanting to do away with rowdy entertainment – seems this started in the late 80s/early-90s when they pretty-much killed the Spring-Break scene which had been famous/infamous for decades. There still seem to be a few spots in the county where SCs are doing well; e.g. Pompano; but someone here on TUSCL I believe once mentioned this was b/c Pompano was unincorporated Broward-county and thus why it could do things differently?

    They seem to be following the Boynton Beach playbook, bust someone that works in the club. Work on them to find out who's dirty, than watch the club for a few nights before making a raid with as much publicity as possible, including releasing the names of all the dancers that are working the night of the raid to publicly shame them whether or not they were charged let alone convicted. Ruin the business then buy the property cheap and then you will find out who really was behind the political pressure because a new business will open on the site.

    Solid Gold can be a very good club. Closing them would be a loss to the area.

    Tootsies isn't in Broward, it is in northern Dade county. Check the recent reviews to see what it is like these days.
