New Hollywood Strip Club "Opens Things Up" For the Ladies

Hoping to lure female audiences out of their homes and into the clubs, a new weekly strip club will play with the formula of traditional male strip shows in an attempt to spice things up.
Beginning this Saturday, La Bare Hollywood will present its dancers each week at Club 7969 in Los Angeles, the first Southern California location of the popular La Bare franchise. The choreographed shows, complete with extravagant production numbers, will feature 15 men on five stages performing lap dances, body shots, and other sensual routines for their lady fans. Each show will also include live comedy and music, as well as a "New Year's Eve" party complete with free champagne.
According to club sponsor Tony Ranaudo, a standup comedian and longtime stripper who cut his teeth dancing for the Chippendales in Europe and on road shows throughout the country, La Bare Hollywood will not be your mother's male strip show. "We're really stepping away from the rigid structure of your standard male revue," Ranaudo says. "It's not going to be like the women are sitting in a theater and just watching the guys. They're going to be surrounded by the men." Ranaudo adds that the women will be pulled up on stage as well. "We're trying to put the party back into [stripping]," he says.
Ranaudo says that, in addition to the performers who will dance at the Hollywood location, dancers from the Florida and Texas La Bare locations will also circulate through from time to time to keep things fresh. There's even a movie in the works, as footage from several of the shows will eventually turn up on a DVD release.
Among the show's highlights, guests can expect to see a gaggle of stripping Elvises, as well as some very stylistic "fashions" donned by the performers. Ranaudo, who will also perform comedy bits throughout the evening, says that he enjoys seeing audiences respond to the festivities at each show. "There's nothing like seeing 300 women in a room without their men," he laughs. "They get to really let loose and go crazy. This is like the Super Bowl for women."
Club 7969 is located at 7969 Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles. For more information or tickets, call (310) 281-6293, or visit www.labarehollywood.com.
