Addiction is one of the ways that "Christians" justify the fact that nobody can live up to the requirements of their faith. Jesus taught that his followers should be perfect so they need so excuses when they inevitably fail that standard. This is why they are such judgment hypocrites. They criticize others for not living up to their ideal of perfection but nobody could possibly meet their standards no matter how hard they tried.
