Today's Joke: Mexican Bar Table Dancing Revisited

I don't mean to sound preachy this morning, but I do think we could pick up the pace in terms of our perception of subtle humor. A case in point: last night I posted about my love of Mexican bar table dancing. This was a joke, and at least I thought it was a funny one, but perhaps the humor was too subtle to recognize. Or maybe I'm just not as funny as I think.

In any event, since the only responses I got were a couple of PL's wondering if I'd found a new way to pick up Mexican strippers, and shadowcat (who came the closest to recognizing the joke) saying that he had lived in Southern California for 45 years and had never heard of Mexican bar table dancing, I thought I should explain. So, for whatever it's worth, here's why I think this is funny:

As best I can tell, as shadowcat said, there is no such thing as a Mexican bar table dancing. I tried googling it, and mostly came up with a bunch of gibberish about bars in Mexico. Plus if this really were some sort of way to get sex from random Hispanic women, some of us would've tried it. It pretty clearly doesn't exist in any meaningful sense.
So anyone who says they are seriously into Mexican bar table dancing might not be playing with a full deck of cards.
To the best of my knowledge, there is only one member of this site who is actually into "Mexican bar table dancing," and I read it in his profile. I'll give you a hint. He knows absolutely everything about completely nothing, and is compelled to share that lack of knowledge constantly with the world.
When he didn't respond in the first 30 minutes, I was concerned that perhaps he might've finally gotten a job. But no such luck. With in an hour, San Jose guy had published an excruciatingly lengthy description of the history in Santa Clara County of Mexican bar table dancing. I tried reading it several times, and as best I can tell it says absolutely nothing about anything. But clearly San Jose guy was very excited to have found another aficionado of this activity, whatever it is. Exactly what I was expecting.
So that's the joke. I suggest going back and reading the posts with this explanation for context. Maybe it'll be funny the second time.
For those of you who were planning to go to Mexico to check out this new phenomena, I hope you haven't booked your plane ticket yet. But if you have, PM San Jose guy cause I'm sure he'd like to go with you.

Everybody knows that it's all about Colombian Table dancing. Mexican Table dancing is bush league compared to it.

You must have missed my, "Lot's of Mexicans down my way. I assume you are talking about buying the whores a drink and they dance with you?" It is quite common in Mexican bars.

This happens, and I was asking if that is what you meant. Reason, I'd never heard of your "Mexican Bar Table Dancing".

Clubber, I saw your response and I didn't mean to suggest that you're a PL just because you tried to figure out what the hell a MBTD is. Being unable to figure it out is the point. It exists only in the mind of SJG.

What would you call what happens in S. Florida? You can be in a "MEXICAN BAR" or "TABLE", purchase a drink and "DANCE".

Bottom line, IMHO, I think you are the one the joke is on since there IS such a thing!

BTW, the drinks are far from cheap!

I call it Mexican Bar Table Dancing, as that describes what it is. What they call it is "Bikini Show" or "Ballarinas Exoticos". Sometimes when they have it they will have posters up with a picture of a girl kicking her heels up in a cocktail glass.

The number of Mexican Bars in San Jose keeps dropping as they keep trying to further yuppify the city by building condos in order to prop up real estate prices and extend the bubble. It is always put on by a talent agent, instead of the bar owner, to maintain more plausible deniability so that when it gets shut down, no one gets in any serious trouble. They don't want to risk the bar's liquor license as the whole thing violates many regulations. It amounts to a kind of unadvertised and underground and strip club. I only learned of it because of a very FS and OTC oriented dancer in Sunnyvale. These shows are always in some way going beyond what the local advertised strip clubs can do. But the only time it was really fun was when it was highly interactive because you were just giving them $1 at a time. With the later instantiations they do it for $20 for a song. This ruins it. You give her $20, and then she does her thing, and you are not really interacting with her. They do it this way to intentionally make it less interactive so they are less likely to get shut down so fast. $1 at a time means guys are leading the girls further and further with each $1. It is playful. I see it as harmless fun.

Doing it for $20 a song, there was one of the girls, just one of them, S., who was quite good about letting you get at her tits and lifting her hair up so you could nuzzle and talk into her ear, and you could have her turn around and use another chair in front to put her hands on so she can grind you some, and with her feet off of the floor so that her hips are angled so that she is grinding you with her pussy. She was very good at that and I would always be all over her bottom, spreading her buy coming up under her bottom with my thumbs. She was not averse to DKFing either. She tried to do that with me, on her own initiative, but the talent agent stopped her.

But S. was the only one who did it that way, because she was Latina and they basically respect everybody and are comfortable offering themselves freely. The other girls would not let there be two way touching and they didn't like people who didn't listen to them about this.

But I liked it back when it was $1 at a time. But this meant more happened and so the talent agents got into very serious trouble. They spent months in jail before they even got out on bail and they faced serious felony charges.

I liked the girls who did it back then. There was this group of 6 at the core. They claimed to be sisters. But I knew they were sisters and first cousins. They were the most beloved Latina escorts of the region. People liked them so much just because of their manner of being with you and of taking care of you. Again, it is a basic respect which comes from working class culture. Americans haven't every really had this. The white girls and the black girls would get mad if you even mentioned the name of one of these beloved Latinas.

They were doing Bikini Shows in Gilroy, but LE closed down most of the bars they did it at. So I would suggest checking Watsonville and Salinas. I know that no one here is really likely to go there and ask. But I do think it is still worth talking about these shows of the past because they demonstrate how good such things can work where there are very few rules and when it is all done in the front room, and where the basic culture is defined by Latinas and by the Mexican men who know how to caress them.

When I have asked in bars about these shows and found out the days they have them, I have also asked about the other days. I have been told, "Well there will be women in the bar." They are trying to tell me that my needs can be satisfied, if that is what I mean. They are telling me that there will be hookers in the bar.

Yes I have seen this. You don't find that other places in San Jose. But you do find a few in San Jose's Mexican Bars. I don't know where they do their sessions, or how much money they want. I have never tried to talk to them, though most aren't bad looking. I don't think they speak much English. Sometimes in the evenings there are also black hookers in the Mexican Bars. Some of them look pretty nice too. You don't see that in the other local bars.

A lovely girl! I really go for them in dramatic eye makeup. I could spend lots of time with her. The pictures also show why to get good results you need a studio flash set up and an SLR, instead of having camera which the flash mounted on itself.

FWIW – making fun of someone by trying to trick them or fool them is not really the kind of humor many appreciate.

The fact there is such a thing or something very close in SJG neck of the woods and ours, make out JS69 to be the butt of the joke. I guess he figured his little place on earth was all there is. Oh well, live and learn. :)

Particularly for Shadowcat who posts about living in SoCal and about being married to a Mexican woman and still never having heard about such shows, and even with having traveled in Mexico.

Well of course they won't do it this way in Mexico. As I know, even little bars will have a back room and maybe have one girl working there. They will have a small brothel before they have a strip club. At a minimum there will be hookers available in the bar. So this is an American thing.

I don't know if this exists other places in California or how far back it goes. It could be unique to San Jose and Gilroy and it may not go back further than the early 1990's. One woman who claims to have started it goes by Anna. I am hoping here that local people will read this and affirm. She is short, thick, black, and nice looking. She likes to wear lots of makeup. She is married to a Mexican. She has had small stores at the Tropicana at Story and King, and in a Mexican grocery store near the downtown. She makes weekly trips to all the local SC's to sell costumes.

She claims to have started this in San Jose and Gilroy. She also had one basement place, another underground SC, in downtown San Jose. There the girls all wore black.

There was a big incident when in Gilroy two underage girls got in. They talent agent never met them, but approved them over the telephone. Big mistake. This may or may not have been Anna. She would never want to talk about this.

Anna seems to have some connection to Louisiana and Cajuns.

The guys who did it the way I liked and who really tried to spread it were Dave and Bob. Dave was tall and skinny and had a business degree from SJSU. Bob was short and fat and looked funny as he was Cajun. He was also somehow related to a black BBW dancer. Bob was going out with a nutty girl, S.

Dave and Bob spread it as far as they could and Anna said they had stolen her thing. Dave and Bob got in very serious trouble as our county's DA is extreme.

Since, what has operated was much more moderate. But also, many of the bars are gone. I don't know if any more of this exists.

I hope to talk more about some of the details of the doings of this group of most cherished Latina escorts, as it really opened my eyes. I hope there are local people who can vouch for me about these "Bikini Shows" at Maria's Club, La Copa Inn, Flamingos, and other places.
