Off topic my experience checking out smart phone plan service

I went to Verizon.
On my original iPad the entire site is annoying fixed in screen size. I was squinting to read all the small text. The site is not set up to take advantage of the iPad ability to enlarge a screen and text with a simple finger spread like many sites are. After a few minutes, forget this.

Searched for a $35 data plan. I found Virgin Mobile links. Links were not working on google. Something about server not responding. Finally something worked. Then it didn't.

Fu this smart phone search. I'm going to tuscl where everything usually works on my iPad.

I would like to drop my entire phone company but I would need to switch my dsl service to someone else. Anyone ever done that? I apparently use over 14 gigs a month or possibly more but the phone company doesn't track data use.

14 gigs a month is a great deal of data. I suppose downloading all those porn movies consumes a lot. I had unlimited data with Verizon and was paying a fortune. I checked my data usage and found it was less than one gig per month. I ended up switching to a "Friends & Family" plan with AT&T which my daughter has. For my phone, my wife's, and my daughter & her husband we've got up to two gigs per month and have never exceeded it. I now pay $100 per month for access from 2 smart phones

I'm on my second iPhone with Verizon. Recently upgraded to a newer model. Verizon may not be the cheapest kids on the block, but they have the best coverage and have always been very reliable.

The day I got my new phone, Verizon rolled out their new "no-contract" option. I guess they have been getting hammered by the other companies.

The CSR spent some time reviewing the plan - it didn't really save any money over the contract. So I renewed the contract and got the phone cheap.

So unless you're a techie that has to have a new phone every few months, I left happy with my plan.

I'm not downloading any porn videos. Just a few YouTube videos. Plus occassionally surfing onto web cam sites. I think those two activities consume a lot of data. I have unlimited data with my dsl line and had to install. data tracker to even get an idea of how much data I was using. The phone company said they didn't track it.

I use less than 2 gig a month on my iPad but switch to wifi at home so my total data usage is likely higher than 14 gig a month, I'm only guessing though. I'm only tracking usage on my pc, not wifi connection plus adding in an extra 2 gig on my data plan which I never exceed thanks to wifi.

I was just wondering if there was a cheaper way to get all the data in one plan and switch away from dsl and the phone company land line for home and the data plan. My data plan is only $25 per month and I have unlimited data with my dsl line. My average data usage is usually lower I think. 14 may have been a max. I don't know. I can surf YouTube while watching tv download a lot of data.

Donwloading 1080p YouTube videos can eat up 100 meg up to 500 meg in a matter of minutes.

Oh well, doesn't sound like there is a cheaper alternative right now.

Check out Line2, a voice and text phone plan you can put on your iPad. $9.95 a month. But you need wi-fi because it is VOIP.

Shark, Your problem is not the website, it is the fucking iPad. I have a 7" Samsung Tab and I can enlarge the Verizon screen with the finger spread.

I think verizon didn't bother to update their site for the older tech. You can say it's the ipad but verizon either forgot about it or didn't want to bother with it.

Thanks for the tips. I decided I'm going to finish my taxes before I check out more details. I'm leaning towards virgin mobile. Texting and data is what I use the most.

“… I just got a smart phone and realized, it's smarter than me …”

That’s not really saying much about the phone now is it?

LOL – sorry good buddy – but that one was right over the plate and I had to take a swing at it :)
