Do the old-timers remember the Domino Theory? It was the rationale used to justify intervention in Viet Nam. There was fear that one country after another in Southeast Asia might fall to Communism. Korea, Viet Nam....what next? Thailand? Laos? Burma? Indonesia? The P.I. ?

A Domino Effect, of sort, is taking place in Michigan. Detroit has already fallen. Clubs located in Central and Western Michigan, in cities like Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek, are struggling. A few "dirty" dancers are making it difficult for the "clean" dancers to bank the grand they used to a weekend night.

It will be interesting to see which direction it falls.

My bet would be this ex-dancer actually just aged out of dancing, and is having a hard time facing up to it that she is not as generally attractive to men (and lopaws) as she once was.

Some variation on the above dancer's lament has become increasingly common. Perhaps it is to be expected in any industry where the competition and expectations change over time. Those who cannot or choose not to compete in a changing market often lament the good old days or complain about the competition (all those "whores" are ruining the strip club industry) or blame the customer (for spending their money on full service dances rather than teasing dances).

I do agree with one perspective from this dancer -- there are a number of customers who would prefer a good, flirtatious, sensuous lap dance without extras over a mechanical dance with extras. Said another way, there is still a market for no extras strippers-- its just a matter of matching the right customer with the right product (and not getting mad at the customers who prefer a different product).

Times have changed. We are not in an optimistic economic environment as we were pre-2008 – many are struggling and/or concerned about the economy and are thus more hesitant to frivolously part w/ their $$$.

The internet & online escort sites are also competition besides “the extras girls” at the club.

I would venture to say most SC goers are not necessarily looking for extras or at least are not the “extras or nothing” types.

I can see though that a dancer in a club that has a reputation for extras may have it tougher b/c many of the custies in that club may be spoiled & may go to that particular SC specifically b/c extras are available.

Producers of porn, like strip clubs, vary in their scumminess. On the lower-scum side of it, the performers negotiate what they are going to do and who they are going to do it with before shooting starts. I could see a female porn actor used to that arrangement feeling nasty about sucking enough random dicks in VIP to pay her monthly bills.
