But one thing I will really question is your comment about the music being low enough to have a conversation. Really? The Clubhouse historically has been the loudest club I have ever visited. The last time I went there, which was about 10 months ago, I could barely hear the cashier in the foyer - and there ws a closed door between us and the club proper! The guy who owns the place is a retired rocker and he plays the damned music at concert levels - it is actually painful to be in there and I can never stand it for very long. This has been the case for several years and I am surprised that it has changed now.
Btw, did you get a chance to sit at the bar? Also, what was the cover charge? Were they letting people bring in hard alcohol?

Anyway, Rick, you are right about the music and I thought about that. I think they turn it up around 10:00 or whenever they suspect it's full enough to send girls to the 'back nine.' I usually sit upstairs, and while it is still loud up there, I find conversations with a girl in your lap easy to be had. The loudest club I've been to is probably Cab North in Fort Worth. The speakers literally shake the tables sometimes.
As far as the bar, they have no stools, so I don't hang around. I go find a spot with a view upstairs, which is mostly non-VIP.

As I said it's not $150 the first time out, I start around $250-350, but once you establish yourself as a regular it can get that low. (It's also what escorts in the area will end up charging their regulars, so it's just about being competitive with them.)
