LeBron James chooses Miami Heat (off topic)

The most highly-anticipated and celebrated free agent decision in NBA history finally was resolved on Thursday, with LeBron James ending nearly two years of speculation by choosing to sign with the Miami Heat. Seated in a chair and flanked by dozens of children, James made his announcement in an interview with Jim Gray at a local Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich, Conn., during an hour-long primetime special on ESPN.

James, a native of Akron and Northern Ohio's favorite son, had spent his entire career in Cleveland, leading the franchise to its only NBA Finals appearance in 2007 and winning two NBA MVP awards.

James met with six teams in Cleveland the first three days of the free agent negotiating period -- New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, the Los Angeles Clippers and Cleveland. Leading up the unprecedented telecast, rumors had been swirling about a possible union of the three biggest prizes on a heralded free agent class, with Chris Bosh joining former NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade with the Heat. He supported those beliefs by proclaiming that the Heat "is going to give me the best opportunity to win and to win now. I want to be able to win championships and I feel like I can compete now. I'm looking forward to it."

Miami does have the best strip clubs out of the choices he had and this should mean an increase in business for Tootsie's (Rick's cabaret). The Christie's in Cleveland became popular and busy because of the cleveland NBA games with Lebron. Attendance was at a high. I predict the ratings at Christie's Cleveland on tuscl will be on a downhill trend.

Now this non-story has officially been posted everywhere. The news media can officially suck their own balls on this one.

AWWW, poor Cleveland, I got a kick out of the owner's rant on Facebook today. Of course his franchise just dropped big time in value, losing Lebron as his star player. Oh well
  • Not sure LeBron was ever a stripper hound, but this is a sound hypothesis.

If he wasn't going to stay in Cleveland -- and I'm shocked there wasn't a riot -- he would join Miami. Championships in numbers now. Maybe.

And I for one am glad there's a sports fan on TUSCL. Hey ss1, who is that chick? It's not a photoshop, is it?

LeBron will have a large salary.
Florida won't charge tax on that income; Ohio does (and New York, the other leading suitor, does even worse).

    Easy math...

how, you make a good point about that, in Ohio the state income tax is 7.5% for incomes over $200,000. I did hear on the news he would slightly be making more in Miami overall even after you consider the more money Cleveland could offer him an extra $30 million because of the salary cap rules. I don't know if they factored in the cost of him selling his mansion while the home market and Cleveland economy (auto/steel) are down or factor in the cost of living in Miami. Either way though I think he cares more about winning a championship now more than anything.

Cleveland should still have a good team for a couple more years but I am afraid it will eventually end up like pre-2003/Lebron when they were tied with Denver with having the worst record.

As for my new avater, I found the picture on a porn forum. I messaged the guy who posted the picture last night after I saw lopaw's comment but still no reply from him. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a reply lol. If he does tell me it was a personal pic I am going to take it down but I am guessing it is a pro or maybe a photo shop like sygsyg said.

LeBron, Kobe, Shaq and all the rest don't deserve the attention. NBA basketball is a joke.

Here is the letter the cavs owner wrote after losing Lebron:

    Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

    Just watch.

    Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....
    Dan Gilbert
    Majority Owner
    Cleveland Cavaliers

Lebron comes across as more interested in marketing his "Lebron" brand than being concerned with his basketkkball legacy.

He's intelligent about basketball but beyond that his street smarts will not make up for his lack of social finesse and some simple human humbleness at the proper moments. He's now a quitter who left his home team to play with friends.

Star? ...yes. Some rings? ...probably. True champion? ...never.

In the meantime, there's other hands-on entertainment as we here already know.

Tootsie's Cabaret Fans Will Welcome LeBron James to Miami Thursday, July 15th. Tootsie's Cabaret, which is believed to be the largest gentlemen's club in the U.S. at 74,000 square feet, is offering free admission to James and Heat fans from 12 noon to midnight and is pouring all drinks at half price during that time. And whether or not the newest Heat star makes it to the event, his fans will be sure to have a great time.

Since Lebron grew up in Akron, he generally behaved himself for the 7 years he was with the Cavs. After all, his Momma was just down the road. Now he's going to South Beach, with Bosh and Wade, who are much more the social "playa's" than the relatively sheltered Lebron. It will be interesting to see if he can stay clean in a town full of easily obtainable debauchery.

DD, Lebron is so rich he could probably move his family down to Miami and not blink an eye on the costs.
I heard Akron took down their welcome signs that said "Welcome to Akron Home of Lebron James" lol
Have you seen the movie Cocaine Cowboys? it is a documentary about how the city of Miami was built up with cocaine money. Once the cocaine busts started, a lot of the upscale shops went out of business.

Hey, I hear Cleveland is "great" place...the airport looked nice enuff & the area looked cool from the air...with some weird-colored plumes going out into the lake (I guess that might have been pollution though):

Michael Moore also used that video clip in Capitalism: A Love Story

Cleveland does have Amber's Cabaret and Christie's, both are on the top 100
