I might opt for Gold Club or Crazy Horse for mid-range clubs over Paper Dolls. Never got around to writing up my run through Charlotte, but Paper Dolls seems like it can get a little rowdy. On the upside the stageside chairs are situated in little cubby holes created by the sprawling main stage so you could luck out and get semi-private seating space. Gold Club was borderline upscale, but the prices were reasonable and it was pretty laid back with good spacing between tables on the main floor. My favorite club in Charlotte is the Men's Club, though. Drinks are a little pricier but the interior and eye candy are top notch. Chairs were a little worn but comfortable, and there's no hard sell at any of these three. Crazy Horse had more girls circulating for drinks and dances if that's your thing. I even got drug up on stage for a slow dance...Uptown Cabaret is well appointed, but I thought it was too cramped and other than the DJ the staff vibe wasn't great. So that's my spare change on Charlotte, which would be a little different for a solo jaunt but it'd be hard to go wrong with the first three clubs.
