Death of a Club kills the whole block

In the Kansas City area there once was a club named Diamond Joe's. Long story short it is no more. It was in a less than great part of town but was the closest place to see some decent t&a if not the least expensive. I drove through the area on the way to a recent road trip thinking it might be a good time before a long drive. It seems this club suffered a double whammy first with the booby police enforcing the new law, then the local economy collapsed. It seems like this club was the one semi successful business in the area and when the boobies went so did the club and then the neighborhood. Even the gas and pawn shops are gone. Not to put too fine a political point on it but this is a great example of how moral conservative agenda can undermine the fiscal business conservative and hurt a whole neighborhood in the process.
When the economy turns down many turn to the SC scene either as an alternative form of employment or as a place where one can forget for a few hours just how f'ed up their life can be. Making it harder for anyone to make money by whatever means they can just slows recovery, and encourages those beautiful entertainers boobies to go to other states. Shame Missouri shame, we should be working to keep our "native ta-tas" in their home state.
So the next time you visit your local spot be glad it's there and if you truly enjoy it tip well, drink up, and vote the way your libido tells you, those horny jackasses whose scandals are sex based.
While I can't argue with much of what Prugger333 said about the recent Missouri strip club regulations it wasn't a significant factor in Diamond Joe's closing. DJ's was one of the last businesses to close along this two block area. And the other businesses did not fold because of DJ's closing.

All closed because their land was taken in order to accommodate a hotly debated four lane street widening design. The street is already four lanes just north of this area.

I read that as well, that DJs got bought out along with the used car lots and other businesses in the area. They must be making it 4 lane from I-35 to the casino. With the MO strip law change and the recession, I am sure it made DJs decision to sell easy (if they had a choice)!!

@mo........yeah, that's the idea. Since my posting I talked to a former "Diamond girl" who said the owner had thought of relocating, possibly to the Kansas side. But since KS is pressing to enact a similar law that's not likely to happen until new law fever dies down in KS legislature! Relocating in MO would require picking a good retail site that did not entail a fight over adult entertainment zoning/licensing. So MO law did potentially have some impact on relocation option.

Just as a update. DJs is now history. The building has been knocked down and all the businesses in the area are boarded up. DJs is now dead unless it reopens someplace else (maybe on the KS side as joker mentioned).
