Why do I keep trying?

Once upon a time, this used to be a club I liked. There used to be, reliably, two types of dancers that worked here. The first, cute baby strippers learning the craft before moving on to bigger clubs like Risque or Cheerleaders, who still didn't know how to set boundaries with the PLs that came to visit. The second, seasoned veterans who had learned that their business was best when they didn't set any boundaries for the PLs that came to visit. Well before COVID hit something went terribly wrong.

I tried again at about 6:00p on a Friday. This club is near the airport, has a big free parking lot, and offers some amount of anonymity that some mongers prefer. Today, the doorman barely looked at me as I walked through the metal detector with my keys and phone (but no alarm) and no mask, and there was no cover. There's a large rectangular bar in the middle of the room surrounding 2 poles; a semi-private lap dance area is off the back left corner. Some drywall repairs are still needing some new paint.

I got a Yuengling Lager for $7 (+$2 tip) and bellied up to the bar. The bartenders looked miserable like they'd rather be anywhere else. Much of the time there was nobody on stage. But, occasionally dancers would dance two songs with the 2nd topless, then would do a tip walk around the bar's 10-or-so customers. I gave it the old college try and waited through 5 stage shows, tipping each woman $4 for trying, but only one of the dancers I would rate more than a "4". The man I assume was the club manager also didn't seem to convey any sort of a vibe a club would want. I debated whether I should stick it out until 8p to see what the night shift would bring; but, I decided to cut my losses with a cheap $30 lesson and leave. Reading the boards, it seems that many might have moved over to the nearby Purple Orchid, but I decided to go to Cheerleaders (foreshadowing - that was a good decision!).
