This is a review for those of y'all who want to know what the COVID restrictions are doing to the strip clubs in New Orleans. The strip clubs opened back up after the city's Mardi Gras shutdown was over. I went to Penthouse about 9 on a Friday night. It is now open 5 - 11, Wednesday through Sunday. (All the bars are under a state mandated 11 pm shutdown at the moment). There are some pretty heavy attendance restrictions and unfortunately, the clubs are in the Mayor's cross-hairs, so they have no flexibility to bend those rules. Everyone has to be seated at a table as there is no bar seating (although that might have changed this week). The club had about 50 guys at the tables which I think is the capacity as there was a line of guys waiting to get in that night. You cannot actually sit at a stage. There is a rope that prevents you from going near. They do have some ice buckets placed around so you can tip the girl dancing. (I will say, I saw too many of the guys taking advantage of the distance from the stage to not tip). The drink prices remain typical New Orleans prices, $8 for a beer, $12 for a cocktail. For having only 50 guys, the dancer ration was one of the highest I have seen anywhere. There were probably at least 20 girls in the place. It was therefore very easy to get the attention of any dancer you liked. The dances were $30-$40 (think the girls can set their own price maybe), but given the ratios, most girls weren't in the "do you want a dance mode." They would definitely spend more time with you than when the club had 300 guys in it. The quality of the dances has gone down a little because of the city's restrictions. But I think the smaller crowd actually made the overall experience a lot more enjoyable. I'll take less contact during Covid for more time. Also, this was a club that pre-Covid didn't really start hopping until 11. If you went when they opened at 6, there wouldn't be any girls. With the 11 closing time, it sounded like the girls are showing up a lot earlier so they can work the full 6 hours. Given what we are working with here in New Orleans, this was a lot more fun than I expected. I had been back in October when they opened for about three weeks and it wasn't close to as full or fun. The club is not the same as pre-Covid, but you can still have a great time with your buddies for a couple of hours.
