Can a Club Simultaneously Feel Like a Biker Bar and Old Western Saloon?
I have found the answer to a trivia question no one would ever want to ask, and that answer is Club Doric. Don’t know the drink prices because I never made it to the bar. This club was kid of off by itself in a business district, and I was driving past on my way to Club Las Vegas. I didn’t get charged a cover, and when I walked in I didn’t know quite what to make of the place. There was a lot going on style-wise with the decor, and club was big enough to have what looked like four or five different zones on the main floor. The dance area was back behind a swinging door, which was something you don’t see every day.
Since I was basically just here to sample dances, I stood in the middle of the room ignoring the dancer who was fake-ignoring me, and went to the dance booths with the first thing that seemed VIPable. Dominique was tall with dyed red hair. She was 99% French speaking and pointed to a sign that showed $10 dances in curtained off booths. No lie, her dances were pretty damned good for $10 dance two-way touching allowed. Songs were not cut short, and even though I can't remember the last time I heard No Diggity it was kind of fun to hear it. Even if I had to go to Montreal to hear something other than hip hop and metal in club these days.
The building was a brick building with nothing that stood out other than the sign for the club, and it was in a part of town that wasn’t great but I still felt relatively safe. There were still five girls after 2 in the morning so not bad, and there was actually a dancer on stage when I walked in. The girl on stage was black dancer. Slim and pretty, but seemed to have an attitude. She was probably tired, and there was another black dancer off by the gambling machines who was trying to play hard to get but got preempted by Dominique. I opted not to push for more memorable dances because it seemed like Vegas was a better option to spend time/drop cash. It wasn’t, but by the time I figured that out this place was closed.
