Worth going to watch, but not participate
The Hustler Club is on the west end of infamous Bourbon Street (as an aside - that entire street stinks terribly), and not to be confused with their sister club, Hustler Barely Legal Club just east a block or so. It's easy to get to by walking f you're almost anywhere in the French Quarter. From elsewhere in New Orleans, you'd have to manage the narrow one-way streets and difficult parking, or take a ride share.
They offered me two options for the cover charge - free for "general admission" and $5 for a VIP admission which included access to the upstairs VIP lounge, two-for-one drinks up there, in/out privileges, and free admission to the Barely Legal club. My rum and coke was $10, so drinks and cover, at least, weren't outrageously high.
Inside there's a mid-sized stage with a pole that goes up through the open ceiling past the second floor. It's surrounded by tables, with a long bar along the left wall. You can watch the stage from the upstairs VIP lounge by looking down over the balcony. Further back is a small stage, and then an open courtyard which was fairly unique. Neither the back stage nor the outdoor space were in use when I was there, but I think the latter would be pretty pleasant on the right day. Like most of the French Quarter, the building was old and showed it. The furnishings were fine, though, and it didn't feel ratty at all. The waitresses were attentive, though there were only a handful of patrons so it wasn't hard to keep up with things.
