Dancer's review
This club caters to the more upscale tourists and locals in New Orleans - mostly tourists and conventionaires. Most of the managers have been there since the club opened in 1997, and they are easy to work with. This is where most of the more experienced dancers work in New Orleans - also one of the more lenient with rules. It's definitely not a nasty place, since New Orleans laws in general are very strict, but Rick's does a good job of keeping the atmosphere somewhere between totally clean and a little sleazy.
Any rule-bending is always done discreetly, so clean girls can still make money at Rick's. There are NO drink or dance specials. No drink hustle. Fees: I've never worked dayshift here, but for nights the fees are based on the time you check in with the cashier: Before 5pm - $20 5pm-10pm - $40 after 10pm - $60 Dancing - Two stages, light tipping. New Orleans law states that one cannot dance topless unless 17" off the ground, so table dances are done on little pedestals.
Of course at Rick's, dancers get a little more creative on the pedestals than at other clubs in town - nothing nasty, just a little contact. Customers definitely appreciate that. VIP - There is a VIP section, where members or those who buy champagne or tip the doorman sit. But this is mainly an appetizer. The real VIP (called SuperVIP) is a totally separate section where customers pay hourly for entertainment with a dancer. Hourly rate is $300 for the dancer and $125 for the club. Many customers prefer to go for a half hour - $200 for the dancer and $125 for the club.
