Fascinating drama!
I was here a few weeks ago, and I love sitting at the bar listening to the conversations around me ... you learn SO much about the stripper/dancer subculture. That Saturday there was some old American guy rhapsodizing about all the strippers he was supporting and how they "loved" him. Geez. And I was sitting there rolling my eyes sort of feeling sorry for him but also watching with admiration as the gals squeezed him for all he was worth. They sure can spot an easy mark!
But their lives aren't easy either ... you hear a lot of tales about girls who can barely hold it together. One African-American dancer, "S" has never not been there when I have - and that's going back quite a few years. You wonder ... she's in the only profession where your pay goes down the longer you do it. What happens when she wakes up at 40 and asks, "what now?" Yikes. Some figure it out, and save their money, and move on. But some don't ... Anyway, I soon moved on without partaking. Sometimes it's more fun being a sociologist than a sexologist. And the faces haven't changed much in the last few years ...
