Club Downtown, aka Bar Downtown, was another one of the many Montreal clubs I went to on a recent trip. The entrance is right on St. Catherine, next to a restaurant and among plenty of regular stores. It's just a door that opens on a fairly long set of stairs heading up into the building. Cover charge was $5 (CDN). I wasn't asked for a tip by the host/bouncer as I was at several other Montreal clubs. The space is a long narrow rectangle. There's a section of seats that have a decent view of the stage. Many of the seats, including those at the bar aren't great for watching the stage, though. They're a fair distance away and the angle is poor. My Coke was about $8. Service was pretty good, though when it got crowded later in the night the space was limited enough that the waitresses had a bit of a hard time moving around.

The stage show was pretty good, with entertaining dancer performances. There wasn't any real interaction with patrons, a common issue with the Montreal clubs. The dancer quality was good. There wasn't as big a diversity as at Les Amazones (mostly white), but not bad. Dancers circulated, but there wasn't a ton of conversation. The language wasn't much of a problem. Most of the dancers had excellent English. But they didn't seem interested in chatting longer than a brief introduction (at most) before a dance ask. I didn't encounter anyone that was rude after a polite decline.

The lap dances are done through a sliding door to a back area with small booths with sheer curtains and a simple chair. The spaces were significantly nicer than at Les Amazones or Club Cleopatra, but still pretty small/cramped compared to clubs I've been to in other cities. The dances are $10 each, with a $5 charge to go back to the lap dance area. All of the dancers paid the $5 to the bouncer themselves, and then just charged $15 for the first dance. This was different from my trip last year when some of the dancers had me pay the $5 fee. There was no extra drinks required or other charges for the dances. I'm not sure if they had a timed option rather than a per-dance charge.
