Cafe Cleopatra felt like the oldest club of the ones I visited in Montreal. I don't know if it actually is any older than the others, but the building both inside and out had that vibe. It's another club with stairs up from the street. The cover charge was "a tip". I paid $5 as I have in other clubs and the bouncer/host seemed happy. Service by the wait staff was pretty good; soft drinks were $8 or so.

Inside the place was very dark. The decor was sort of old-style red and gold, though there was some interesting artwork on the walls. There is one small stage with several poles around the edges. I thought the poles were too close to those sitting next to the stage for them to be used for anything but leaning on, but a few dancers would jump up and spin around over the heads of the patrons. Between their relatively short height and their position, any further tricks were pretty limited. A few dancers were unusually creative with their dances, coming out in more costume-like lingerie and putting on a purposeful performance rather than just shaking their assets. The tables and chairs were all fine, and all had a good view of the stage, but were not terribly comfortable. There were a few places around the edges of the room that looked like they were a bit better, but were reserved for groups.

The dancers here were, on average, a bit older and heavier than at the other Montreal clubs I've visited. A few were significantly overweight. A few of those managed to carry it well and come off as pleasantly "thick" while some were beyond that into the realm of my not really caring to watch them dance. That said, there were a number of reasonably attractive dancers as well. All of them, with one exception, were pretty friendly. I'd say that the amount of English spoken at this club was lower than the other Montreal clubs. Several dancers struggled with any sort of conversation other than asking about a dance, though a few had great English. Those that could chat generally did so, sitting down with me for a little while before bringing up the issue of getting a dance.
