Not Next Door
I made my first visit to the Glass Slipper on a Friday Night, hoping that the busy time would make for a good time. As many others pointed out, Glass Slipper is right next door to the only other Boston City Limits club; yet the signs of the differences are clear as you approach. There were velvet ropes put up, people waiting to get in, bouncers in matching suits quoting a $20 cover, and limos rolling up with well dressed customers hoping out and going through a door. Then you walk past "next door", and $10 to the guy in the flannel and you are inside Glass Slipper.
The place feels like a neighborhood bar on the inside, and looks like it is mostly a converted neighborhood bar. Long room, booths along one wall, bar along the other. Sticking the stage behind the bar feels like an afterthought. When girls are going to dance, they descend this stairwell like coming down from the upstairs apartment on the way to catch the T. You tip them by crumpling the bills and throwing it at the stage .. or the girl.
Drinks were expensive. If I remember right, over $10 for a jack and coke.
