the jury is out....

I'd been to Vanity Grand a couple of times to visit a dancer I know but both times it was a late afternoon on a weekend so there wasn't much happening...a handful of dancers and a handful of customers....it didn't matter to me since I was there to see one dancer....but I decided to check it out at night.. Vanity Grand is the newest entry in the Philly strip club scene....it is in a slightly scruffy but safe area on the outskirts 10 minutes from the airport, near the Purple Orchid and a couple of other adult outlets. Has a huge well lit parking lot....the physical layout of the club is great spacious, new and clean with a huge bar around a long stage....the lap-dance area is in a separate room divided into cubicles of limited privacy ....great sound system but an annoying lighting system that kept flashing a bright white light on the customers.......anyway when I came in at 9PM on a Monday there were only a three dancers in evidence, one onstage a not very pretty girl with a not bad but somewhat out of shape body who was nonetheless booty-shaking in a sexy way...and a couple other dancers sitting with some of the 10 or so customers. The bartender was friendly. Next up onstage was a very petite average looking AA dancer (all the dancers were AA but of the 10 customers it was 50-50 black/white.) ...she had spirit and admirable pole skills, climbing all the way up a 20 foot pole and doing gymnastics' .... while she was on a pretty tall good-looking dancer with a brick-house figure came downstairs from the dressing room and made her way to me, chatting me up....we had a nice chat and she didn't push a private dance which I wasn't looking for anyway...over the course of an hour I saw about three other dancers all in the 5 - 6 range.... there was no aggressive hustle, everyone seemed fairly friendly...but the club was dead. Well it was a Monday night... I'm told that in general it gets busy later....so the jury is still out on Vanity Grand.
