Purple Rain, Purple Rain
I was staying overnight on a Sunday in Philly in the middle of a trip down I-95 from north to south. I had stopped in for a bit at Outer Space Club about 8:15 or so, but decided I might have more luck at Purple Orchid. As I left OSC, it had started to rain a bit. By the time I ran to my car, which was not far from the door, the rain was now coming down hard. *Really* hard. And then it got worse. *Much worse*.
Driving through the streets of Philly was as difficult as I had ever seen anywhere – almost *impossible* to see markings on roads I was not familiar with, and streets everywhere were flooded, especially around Purple Orchid. However, being the utter PL that I am, I slowly sloshed forward, determined to have some fun before leaving town.
Pulled up to PO about 9:30. There were a good number of cars in the parking lot, but plenty of spaces open in the huge parking lot. Still raining really hard, and the wind was blowing. Fortunately, I had an umbrella which kept my head, glasses and shirt pretty dry, but I still had to walk through an ankle-deep, rushing river of runoff. Actually, by the time I got inside, I was pretty well soaked from the waist down. Luckily, I was wearing Teva river sandals and very light “quick-dry” Nike shorts. Commando, of course.
