Took a cruise by Coco's on...
Took a cruise by Coco's on a slow Tuesday night after midnight. Layout is available on previous reviews. The parking lot looked fairly busy in the front so skipped the Lexx club (right down the street) and decided to give Coco's a shot as it has been a while and the last time I went to Coco's - it was a good experience. This trip was a mixed bag. When I entered the club the cover was $10 which I thought was reasonable and front door staff was friendly. Next at the door entry - I was very surprised - this is the first time I have seen this in a Miami club - there was a security scanner to walk through like you would see at the airport. The door man took your keys and metals just like a trip to the airport. This was very surprising to me - I was very impressed. For years the Miami clubs have had random gun shooting tragedies - kudos for Cocoa's ownership to take club security to a new level. I hope the other clubs pay attention and follow suit. Nothing more important than a safe atmosphere. After entering the club I was surprised to see that there were less than ten customers in the club and the most five dancers on duty. This I thought was not fair when you consider we paid a ten dollar cover charge. The bar staff was friendly and I was immediately approached by a friendly dancer. She was a little too large for my tastes so I was friendly and moved on. The dancer on stage was very pretty and gave several great dances on stage. She must have danced 12 songs in a row - she was a real trooper. Great girl but it was time for some variety. Finally, after a dozen or so dances she departed the stage and left for the dressing room. At that point, for three consecutive songs there was no one on stage. Apparently the other two dancers were dancing privately with other customers. After two dances one of the other customers that just entered the club left in frustration and I followed suit immediately after the next song. Overall not a terrible experience but definitely disappointing to pay a ten dollar cover charge when the club is under staffed with dancers and no one on stage. I will know now to check the back parking lot to be sure the club is full before entering. Yes it is a slow Tuesday night I get that - but if that is the case and you are under staffed - why charge a cover charge? On the previous night I was at Lexx and it was a similar slow night but they charged no cover which is only fair. Still recommend this club for busy nights but no so much on slow week day nights.
