Rick's recently underwent a renovation in anticipation of the Super Bowl coming to town. I've written about the girls and experience before, and that has not changed too much. This will mainly be about the renovation. The entrance has been completely changed. It now includes a bar facing bourbon street that is in what I would call the foyer area. It would not be a bad place to sit down to have a drink and watch the world walk by, but if they charge the same prices there they do inside the club, I seriously doubt many people are going to stop. (a beer is $8 inside the club and drinks are $14). The area closest to Bourbon and the main stage have not changed at all except that they removed the spiral staircase to go to the second floor. The back is where the main renovations took place. They removed the kitchen and no longer serve food. They also removed the raised bar that was the VIP area. The floor is all one level. They added a third small stage to the left of the main stage. It's floor level. The dances don't like it and it showed when they were dancing there. Behind this stage is a much larger new VIP area. It has a bar on right hand side and a large open room with large comfortable wingback chairs. They have also incorporated the private dance area so it is large.. I think the area is going to provide for a much more comfortable VIP experience. I don't know if they changed how you get into that area. I the old VIP you either had to be a member or you had to buy bottle service. The lap dances have moved to the second floor. ( you can get tableside lap dances a lot cheaper, but YMMV). They created an area in the rear left corner is a comfortable area where they have put a lot of couches. It was one of the more comfortable lap dance areas I've been in. It is in the open, but on most nights, the only people upstairs are in the private rooms, so they aren't paying attention. I think the main thing they wanted to do with this renovation was to make it more comfortable for the heavy hitters they expect to see during the Super Bowl and I think they managed to do that. Otherwise, the overall feel of the club remains the same.
