Great information and exactly the kind of articles I look forward to. I’ve been curious about the scene in DR and the dynamic seems very appealing. Appreciate the info, gingerhat.

@RockAllNight - appreciate you putting in the links. I wasn’t sure if that was allowed with tuscl.

Mongo/Smitty - Agree with you both on the number of fichas these BGs are required to pull in. Who knows what the actual number is since I only believe about 5% of what they say. I don’t spend a lot on fichas anyway since one is plenty to decide whether to take her arriba or not.

Appreciate your insight on Costa Rica. Have been curious about mongering there for some time but if what we receive in TJ is equivalent or better in terms of quality and value, then maybe I’ll take my time getting out to Jaco. Thanks again!

@Puta - I do remember all the names and threw them in my notes. The line of work I do requires me to remember details about people so I easily recall names, ages, where they’re from, etc. and throw them in my notes app on my phone after I walk the BGs back down to HK after the arriba session.
If you or anyone else want the names, just let me know which and I’d be happy to share.

On my last trip earlier this month (3/21-3/23), I made it to Tacos El Franc for the first time. Easy walk from Cascadas and enjoyed the best al pastor tacos I’ve had in TJ so far.
34P per taco (al pastor, cabeza, tripa, etc.) but a little more expensive for lengua. I believe Google lists them as opening at 4pm but I asked a mesero and he mentioned they open at 2pm during the week.
Just took a look at Telefonicas and the place looks interesting. Like one of the spots in Austin, TX where food trucks are parked.

@Pointofklean - appreciate the details on the transpo when arriving in Mexico. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that same lounge you referenced and good to know that you can just pop over. Like I mentioned, I have no issues making the walk but I doubt I would want to do the walk in warmer months with a backpack.
@Jasco and besmitty - appreciate the details on the free drink every 12 hours.
Just to make sure I know which HK courtesy desk to approach, it would be the courtesy desk at the north entrance for HK club (just after going through their metal detector and before the last black curtain), correct? Not the small “podium” where you purchase VIP which is to the left of the check in desk at Cascadas?
Thanks again to all the contributors on the forum.

I was expecting a red down arrow/thumbs down from desertscrub per his MO for HK reviews but instead got a comment from him directly. I should feel so lucky.
@Jascoi - appreciate the heads up on the VIP drink and transpo tips. I’m definitely still learning and the last thing I want to do is push prices upwards.

Appreciate the info, gentlemen.
Garfield - You are correct on your interpretation of Greek.
TFP and mongo - Thank you for the confirmation about the cost of ficha drinks. I’ll be sure to make the total (drink + tip) $11 from now on to take care of the mesero.
mongo - Just a heads up that there’s also the Washington Street trolley stop which is technically the closest to the rental car facility however according to Google maps, it is “permanently closed”. The official San Diego trolley website appears to still list it as open but it may be worth asking a transportation employee if it’s still open or not.
Appreciate the tip on the breakfast. Didn’t know you had to have it in the club so I’ll skip it. I’ll definitely sample some of the other local cuisine instead.

Appreciate the insight, gentlemen.
I’ll give the card a go when paying for the room (3-night stay) at Cascadas but will plan on cash for everything else. Thanks again!

Once again, thank you for the replies!
I use a Chase Saphire Preferred Visa and the exchange rate has always been favorable in the 8 countries I’ve used it in through Southeast Asia, Europe, and Mexico (Cancun area). It’s been used in retail establishments, restaurants, and hotels in these countries and I haven’t had any issues yet but I’ll bring extra cash with me for the Hotel Cascadas stay just in case.

Appreciate the replies, everyone.
I failed to mention that I have no issues paying cash but would love to take advantage of every opportunity to build up credit card points when possible. Never had an issue with my credit card use overseas throughout most of Southeast Asia and Europe (for non-mongering activities) however most of my credit card use in Mexico has been limited to Cancun, hence my question for the TJ experts.
Looking forward to some mongering in TJ and will certainly report back for a review.
