Oh sorry, last one to consider change in document in the future for clarification like others are giving.
Paraditas (streetwalkers) low pricing is the introduction price and is limited. It is à la carte pricing is my understanding. Even taking off top might be an extra $5 or $10. So you kind of have to be specific because each service costs something and it adds up. It might be easier to ask what is for everything (todo) and list some services and get the price that way. I did that the one time I experienced and it was a really good experience which I think I lucked out a bit reading other reviews. Asking how much and she says, $40 doesn't really give you much information.

Thanks OPIllini!
I think the guide should be updated with Uber/Lyft pricing more like $40-$50 from the airport. I have checked the last 3 trips and it has been that pricing even at night.
I also believe (I could be wrong) but the bus and trolley to the border is only $2.50 each way, not each segment. When I scanned my Pronto App to board the 992 bus, it took off $2.50 and then when I rescanned for the Blue Line, it did not deduct another fare as I believe it is a free transfer. Coming back is the same thing so for a TJ trip, I only load $5.00 total, $2.50 to and from the border.

Ah, I see. Now I have the answer although it seems weird since it is named by people who speak Spanish Tropical Bar and we are switching it.
Just trying to be funny here, so Golden Palace abbreviation should be PG? Lol.
Appreciate the feedback, at least I understand the rationale.

@owlyoung - there are a lot of posts in this forum for first time travelers by experienced contributors. I highly recommend you read up on those because knowing that information will make things so much easier for you.
1) yes, Hotel Cascadas hotel is above the club although you have to enter the hotel and club through separate entries next to each other in both the front and back of building. It is highly recommended for your first time to stay at Cascadas since it is right above HK. The hotel rents runs up until the 9th floor.
2.) I don't know if there is a dress code but most guys I see have a polo shirt on. There are those who wear a tee shirt and many who have a dress shirt. Your preference on how you want to present yourself.
3.). I would say almost all of the US travelers come across the border via San Diego and then through San Ysidro crossing. Flying wise they fly into San Diego and then a majority will take the blue line trolley down to the border. Some take an Uber/Lyft frim the airport but depending on time of day, that could be a $40-50 trip. The 992 bus to the blue line trolley to the border is only $2.50. Bargain.
4.). Currency - In HK, the girls, the drinks, the arribas all are priced in US dollars. The restaurant (Azul) with the hotel can be paid in USD or pesos. The convenience store (Oxxo) is like a 7-11 and can use both currencies. I actually haven't ever converted any dollars to pesos in all my trips but there is a thread about the good conversation rates now so maybe others pay in pesos but I haven't seen it in HK.
5.). Luggage - the over the shoulder one works. I have taken different kinds. The backpack was a second bag if you needed. There is no way I could fit everything I need to change into in just a backpack.
6.). Hotel - no need to call, just go on the website and reserve the room you want. They will get back to you usually within half a day to verify if your room is available and confirmed for the dates for are staying.

@PutaTester above has experienced it and has a good write up on it in the forum. I don't think @RonJax2 has experience, neither have I.
With that said, outside of this past trip, I haven't really walked much outside of crossing the street from Cascadas to BT or Senda Norte so my exposure is limited because from Cascadas to HK, is literally the next doorway.
I do as someone mentioned in another response, "walk with a purpose" and am observant (not on my phone or anything). If I had a choice, I would rather walk in the alley versus the busy front street because the alley has one way traffic and it is easier to see who is coming. I choose the alley Oxxo convenience store over the one on the main street.
Yet with all that being said, you could turn the corner and no matter how observant you are run into municipal police (say you are walking to Chicago). The federal police (the ones that look like soldiers with military rifles) I have walked by often (not on purpose) and never had a problem, I have gotten a few "holas". Those municipal police worry me way more but that could be my ignorance.

I know there is a ton of introduction to TJ in this forum already so don't want to regurgitate the same info but I totally agree with @devl_dawgg and @Jascoi in that you should reserve a room before going. I so much so wouldn't make the trip without a reservation. I have gone and the room choices people wanted were reserved so they were at the desk scrambling.
Remember, the pricing is different, with VIP card, M/T is 70% off the room price, Sun/W/R is 20% off regular room price and F/Sat is 20% off elevated weekend room price.
I bring this up because it seems like you are limiting the cash you bring. If staying at HK (Cascadas), just upfront cash that would be $70 for VIP card, total of all your nights stay and a refundable $50 security deposit (just don't lose the security deposit receipt they give you). So say you stayed on a Sunday and Monday, that could estimate to be $200 total for the room for a couple of nights (depending on which room), $70 VIP and $50 which already is $320. Obviously "limited" cash means different to others but from what I'm imagining you might not even carry enough for the room.
Have fun and report back.
Although nobody could guarantee anything but you are really limiting your exposure to the bandits with badges as you are taking a taxi straight to the front door to HK/Cascadas from the airport. You basically have no exposure outside walking. Unloading your luggage from the taxi to the front door is literally the width of the sidewalk. If you are still concerned, be smart in how, where you hide the cash and leave a smaller amount like $100 in medium to small bills in your pockets or backpack (if you are carrying). I really don't think you have much to worry about.
Now walking from HK to Chicago, etc., yeah, I would walk with a purpose and be aware.

I was there last year early February, the day after Super Bowl and it was good. Plenty of chicas.
Regarding, ATMs, they are in English but it was easier for me to cross the border to use the banks in the US since I didn't want to use by bank card when I misjudged. There are banks at Revolution that many use which is easier but I just crossed since I had time late morning and didn't want to deal with potential safety issues. If you bring enough cash, you don't need to pay the high fees in the club ATMs or worry about cash in general. There is a safe in the rooms.

@PT - I totally understand. I think the sweet spot is 3pm as well. A lot of girls, very few patrons. The balcony is near empty of patrons. I have always found good experiences in that time frame.
The other unintended benefit is if you connect with someone yet later in the evening have a hankering for something else, after 10pm, those girl's shifts have ended and it is a new crew.

@RonJax2 - Yeah, wine would jack up the cost from $11 to $33(?) per drink, no bueno.
Maybe a problem I didn't highlight or even mention is the cost to find a girl that fits a 2 hour ficha session. It could be the first girl or the 7th...lol. I'm quick to cut bait and move on until I find someone with services I like. Then the 2 hour in the club then another hour outside the club bender is epic. Like this one, it was daylight when we finished hanging out...lol

Hey Ron, it definitely was a pen. In the smoking section (in the small Miami room), I don't think they care. Maybe in VIP and the rest of the club or is different. I think I will have a focus on Miami small room next HK review.
Regards to the night, yeah it was a grind. Thank goodness the rest of the days weren't like day 1 but I honestly didn't regret it. It was a bender that I don't think most have experienced. I couldn't land a jackpot on number #2 chica like you (Juliana) but that is how it goes. No regrets at all! You jumped over the trench and got hot by a chica really early, I kept running not getting hit by shit....lol

Great review. I enjoy reading the experience which is weird since I never knew what happened with Julianna until now. Was the clock watching too "professional" for you? I would have gotten the feeling, she wants out as soon as possible.
We shall meet again so I could learn the ways...lol. Next time we should get a bucket and 3 or 4 chicas just to hang with out not worrying about arriba and just party for a few hours before the real hunt .

Hahaha, just playing with you. You did warn me what you saw this day
Totally reminds me of my first ever visit to TJ. First night at Bar Tropical, I met this younger 8+, thin, great smile, great attitude and services (front room make out sessions, lap dances, drinking, laughing, touching, etc.) and wondered why anyone would ever go to HK or anywhere else... Hahahaha

@ibbaicnl - what do you mean about the people in Mexico would feel extra dehumanized? Again, my sample size is limited but throughout the years in discussion with Mexican nationals both in Mexico and in large conferences they traveled to here in the US, the idea of building the wall, etc to all that I spoke to wasn't a big deal to them. Whether it was a fence, wall or extra border security, that was the US doing their thing. I guess my point, it isn't dehumanizing to those I spoke to. They too seemed to wish the cartel be dealt with to have a fresh start in MX. So I guess I'm not understanding. The more I could, the better I could analyze risk for future trips.
I do agree with PT, in an early comment any "sealing the border" was being misapplied to US citizens.

Thanks for the review PT. You mentioned in another review about La Gloria, so based on that I started to do some research for a possible trip late February/early March and saw your review. How timely. Thanks again.

Weird, scrolling through this prior to reading it looked very long but when I came to the end of the review, it didn't seem long at all and I was surprised it was the ending. Great review once again Ron!!
Question: in your VIP session you mentioned a bucket of vino rosado. The price seemed to be the same as a bucket of cerveza. Is that a loophole?

@ilbbaicnl - why would there be protests? Are you saying the Mexican people support the cartel versus the dealing with heightened security? You may be right but all the Mexican nationals I have talked to wish the cartel were not around but there was no way to stop them. Who knows I guess, but to answer the original poster, I didn't think so this could happen during his trip.
I was planning on going back early March, I will have to monitor this a bit.

I believe the concern isn't about Trump specifically but the notice he has put on Mexico regarding imposing heavy tariffs that they don't have now requiring the Mexican President to take action to address his issues and how will Mexico react. I think the OPs concern is if the Mexican people will be upset at the Americans crossing because of that which can hurt their economy.
I am not sure Trump will move with the tariffs literally after being sworn in so I think to answer the OPs question, maybe it won't be a difference when he is there if at all even after. It is something to monitor though.
