Currently The Best Thing Going In Atlanta
This is a composite review covering many visits over the past several months. The basics: Oasis is in the northern suburbs of Atlanta. It’s easily accessible from the downtown area via I-85 and I-285. It’s located on a large lot shared with a Mexican restaurant with ample free parking. For those that want to pretend they are high rollers, the spaces by the door are designated as $5 VIP spaces. I’ve never used one.
Oasis set up a metal detector outside the door a few months ago. I’m not aware of any incidents, but I guess it’s a prudent proactive measure. There is no cover during the day. After 7:00 p.m., a $10 cover is charged. This will be waived with a military ID and maybe some other categories. The door girl will scan your temperature with a contactless thermometer, and sometimes ask you to sign and record your temperature on an entry log, sometimes not.
Inside, the club is basically one large square room. It’s not super fancy, but I would definitely put it in the upscale category. The L-shaped main bar is against the left wall, a second smaller bar in the far right corner (restrooms just past the bar). The island main stage is across from the main bar, a second stage is located next to this bar. There is a third smaller stage against the wall to the right of the entrance. This one and the second stage are used only when the club is busy. The third stage is also where “feature performers” do burlesque acts a couple of times per evening as part of the club’s effort to show they are a “theatrical venue” and not just a sleazy strip club in their legal fight against the City of Doraville’s efforts to shut them down.
Drink prices are strip club average. A domestic beer is $6.50, and mixed drinks cost around $8 and up, depending on the liquor. The club offers a decent food menu with daily specials. The Wednesday prime rib is good and reasonably priced. Unlike a lot of strip clubs, the bartenders are generally excellent.
There are VIP rooms behind the far back stage and additional VIP rooms up a flight of stairs next to the DJ booth. They range in price from $30 per half hour for some smaller rooms directly behind the back stage to $100 for a large skybox upstairs that overlooks the club.
Now for the most important part: the girls. During the day there are probably around 15 or 20 girls, mostly white but also a few AAs and sometimes an Asian or two. In my opinion they range in looks from 4 to 7, maybe even a couple of 8s or 9s, depending on the day and time. At night, the demographics are about the same, but a lot more girls, probably at least 50 or more on a busy evening, and the club does get busy in the evenings. You wouldn’t know that there is still a pandemic going on. Typically, customers don’t wear masks. Dancers are required to have them, but actually using them is now pretty loosely enforced (it was pretty strict when they first reopened).
There is a pretty dramatic change in the vibe between day and night. Daytime has a heavy regulars component. A lot of the girls, particularly the better looking ones, like to hang out, often for hours at time, with their regular customers who buy them drinks, food, and occasional dances before heading to VIP. There are usually enough free agents that you can get a dance if you want, although you will probably have to ask or get her attention by tipping her when she is on stage. At night, it is much more of a party atmosphere with a younger crowd. The bouncers run a tight ship. I have seen them escort a number of customers to the door who were getting a little too exuberant.
Dance prices are the standard Atlanta $10 for a floor dance, which will likely be mostly air or some light occasional grinding. At night, some of the hustlers will ask for tips. The girls will usually ask for $150 to $250 for VIP (mode $200), although I have had some ask for $300 or more. This is on top of the room prices mentioned above. If you’re thinking about a VIP, be sure to clarify with the girl what her rules are as they vary widely. You can often negotiate. I have never had one go below $150, but the girls asking for $200 or $250 will often go down $50 with a little discussion, depending on her service level.
After spending a good bit of time here lately, I think Oasis is currently the best thing going in Atlanta.
