Guys, please be careful the next few days if you’re in Tijuana. Although the Mexican military killed the cartel leader in Jalisco, the cartel is lashing out across Mexico, including Tijuana. In fact, might want to wait a few days before crossing the border.

OPlllini96 - I was in Tijuana yesterday, to meet up with a friend at HK. The place was very quiet, but luckily I had a prearranged meeting with this girl I met at LGB. So, I zoomed in/out of ZN early before the violence started to erupt here as well ( following the cartel leader killing, now the stores are closed and cars are being set on fire in Tijuana ).

I’m probably not going to HK for a good while. The CJNG cartel is going to be shaking down every business from Jalisco to Tijuana. The US just froze all the assets and bank accounts of their fallen leader, which means their payroll is all fucked up too.

I hope everything is settled down soon. I’m planning on going in two weeks.

Correction, maybe three weeks.

Sounds like shit's getting real down there.

🚨 The waves of violence following the death of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes have reached the U.S. doorstep. Chilling new footage shows “narcobloqueos” (drug blockades) active in Tijuana, where cartel members have set vehicles on fire to paralyze traffic just a few miles from San Diego. Multiple cars have been torched and abandoned on major arteries leading to the U.S. border, creating miles of gridlock for commuters and travelers. The blockades in Tijuana are part of a coordinated retaliatory strike by the CJNG, which has erupted in at least 11 Mexican states. Shootouts and carjackings have been reported within blocks of the San Ysidro port of entry, the busiest land border crossing in the Western Hemisphere. A “Ghost Town” Warning 🏛️🚫 As the sun sets, a cartel ultimatum remains in effect, warning civilians to clear the streets or face violence in their homes and hotels tonight. The National Guard and Mexican military have been deployed to clear the debris, but new blockades are reportedly appearing faster than they can be dismantled. Residents in San Diego have reported seeing pillars of smoke rising from across the border, as local law enforcement maintains a high state of alert. Trapped Travelers 📉🛫 With roads blocked and airports like Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta facing indefinite suspensions, thousands are physically unable to leave high-risk zones. The U.S. Embassy has reiterated a “Do Not Move” order for citizens in the region, including Tijuana and surrounding border cities. #ElMencho #CJNG #Tijuana #Narcobloqueos

This might be the start of something big. I wish our govt hadn't said we helped with intel. We'll see how serious Mexico is with hammering cartels. I have a very good friend whose brother is in Puerto Vallarta on vacation.

The Mexican government needs to stop being bitches to the cartels and annihilate them. Make Mexico great, or at least decent, for the first time. That left-wing president of Mexico is either afraid or on the take of the cartels. Probably both.

I checked on people who live East of Mexico City. They said the reprisals are attacks on property not people. Oxxo stores seem to be a common target.

The mexican government is more afraid of the cartels than the cartels are of the gov't. That is likely because the cartels may have a higher payroll spent in the mexican military than the mexican government does.

Because I have been contemplating a trip to TJ next, I contacted Cascadas to get their take on things. On Monday, they told me that "nothing out of the ordinary has occurred and patrons are still visiting." Now, I'm sure they wouldn't tell me to stay away, so take that for what you will. I am still thinking about going (only because I'll be in San Diego and don't want to waste a trip). I'll keep watching the news and make a decision next week. If I do go, I won't be walking around much. I'd stay on site at HK/Cascadas.

@JayhawkJohn: that would be a wise decision if you go. You can also visit Tropical, Chicago, and the alley clubs, but if you restrict yourself to the red-light district, it is heavily guarded and you should be fine.

JayHawkJohn- Cascadas staff is quite accurate about nothing out of the ordinary occurring. I was in TJ this past Sunday ( the day the whole commotion started ), and will be heading out there again tomorrow to meet up with the friend. Plus, in the meantime a few friends have also visited TJ these past few days ( from Sunday up until today ) and they too haven’t reported anything different from the ordinary. So, atleast in TJ business seems to back to normal 👍🏻
