I was chatting with an extraordinarily beautiful dancer who will remain unnamed because I like her. We usually discuss nature as I enjoy outside athletics and she in an "environmentalist". She created a lovely website and was very proud. I am not much for technology, but it was beautiful, simple and functional, until I noticed one glaring error: Her Environmental song. I had to do a double take, because I love the song: Nothing but Flowers, The Talking Heads. I asked her about it and she went over some of the beautiful lyrics. She was stunned I know every word, but not as stunned as she was when I explained she misread the song. The song is sung from the viewpoint of a man who misses the honkey tonks, dairy queens, 7/11's, cherry pies, chocolate chip cookies, highways, billboards and the smell of gas. When talking about fields and flowers the line "If this is paradise I wish I had a lawnmower" is sort of a give away. The inability of the young to grasp things is mond-boggling. video.search.yahoo.com
Dancer conversations

Jump to latest^Totally agree, but it just isn't a pro-environment song and she replaced it. I suggested Big Yellow Taxi, Joni Mitchell.
Did she utilize your suggestion?
Haven't checked. Was hoping she'll discuss it next time I am there.
Ha ha ! Well, Jimmy Carter thought it would be a good idea to play “Imagine” by John Lennon at his funeral at the National Cathedral. National? Imagine there’s no countries Cathedral? Imagine no religion In his defense he was probably old and senile and influenced by some woke idiot when he made that decision. He was supposedly a devout Baptist and an Episcopal Bishop was the officiant. Apparently, they have no standards.
Tbh, when I read the title and the lead-in, I thought I'd open the thread and find something truly outlandish.
But instead I find a story about a girl who had the wherewithal to build her own website, but just misunderstood the meaning of a song. I'm not ashamed to admit that I sometimes find myself in the same boat and I like to think that I'm reasonably bright. Shit man, compared to some of the conversations I've had with dancers just in the last week, this girl downright sounds like a rocket scientist. 😉
^ hence no identifying information.
Add Colorado Rocky Mountain High as a suggestion? simple & profound
I mean, I wouldn't want to have to clarify the meaning of "Summer of 69" to a parent or a clergyman, but people misunderstand song lyrics all the time... :)
When it comes to misinterpretation of a movie, one of the best examples is a movie I saw long ago, A Clockwork Orange. That was widely seen as a movie glorifying violence but the message was supposed to be the exact opposite. This came out clearly in the novel but not the movie. I think the author of the novel, Anthony Burgess, may have been a little unhappy with the director of the movie, Stanley Kubrick, because of that.
I think I just realized that my conversations with strippers are really inane and dull. We just talk about everyday stuff. Or we talk about the stuff I'd like her to do that she doesn't want to do and says she won't do, and then after she does it we go back to talking about everyday stuff.
@wallanon I've been lucky enough to find a few dancers over the years who were not only ridiculously attractive, but also just incredibly gifted conversationalists as well. Those are the ones I miss the most...

I understand your point,,,, but still a great song and a great band!
