I have 3 lives: Work, Dog Shows and Strip Clubs

For the past 2 weeks, I've seen 87 octane w/ethanol at $1.81 at Murphy Express in Colorado Springs. Today, a Sinclair in Colorado Springs is at $1.59. No idea why prices here are so low. @sinclair

@mogul1985 Ol' sinclair is taking care of the American people. But seriously, the new administration is expanding oil and gas drilling and making it easier/quicker to get new wells online.

Yesterday, I saw a guy driving down the interstate with two Sinclairs strapped to the bed of his pickup truck.

Haven't seen it quite that low, but I was happy to fill up for $1.99 here in Cincinnati about a week ago. First time I've seen it under $2/gallon since Covid.

Meanwhile, while I talked to my brother out in California on Christmas he was happy he had found gas for under $4 out there. lol

πŸ”Ί 🌍 ' πŸ¦• πŸ¦• πŸ¦• Like The Dinosaur Info @

@ Sinclair

Sinclair Gas uses a dinosaur mascot (Dino the Apatosaurus) because the company's high-quality lubricants and gasoline are refined from crude oil formed during the Mesozoic Era, the age when dinosaurs lived, linking their "fossil fuels" to these ancient creatures for a memorable marketing message: "the oldest crudes make the best oils". The Apatosaurus became the popular icon after an initial campaign featuring many dinosaurs in 1930, becoming a registered trademark by 1932.

I've seen permits are being accelerated and more land is being opened up as well as off-shore drilling. Doesn't it take a few years to get a new well on-line? And, sure, Biden the Crypt Keeper, or whomever hand their arm up is ass moving his pie hole, made permits super impossible; not any more from what I know. I just made a trip on 3-Dec from Colorado Springs through KS, MO, KY, TN, AL, to Orlando and back home on 17-Dec (traffic around St Louis, Nashville, Kansas City, and Atlanta was really miserable) and didn't see these kind of prices. I use 87/No Ethanol at home and it is like $2.35 at Murphy Express now, however, it was tough to find any Ethanol Free gas and I used 89 or 93 instead. I'm not an octane expert, i just know I don't like 'Corn Squeezins" in my gas.

1.59 is damn cheap compared to where I am in Arizona.

OPEC is flooding the market. Any new oil drilled in the US will be exported to countries where it can be refined efficiently. We import so much oil from Canada because our refineries are constructed for heavy oil.

Are those prices per gallon? You guys have it lucky, in the UK the average price per gallon is around $5.10. Yes, I know. Most of it is Tax.

The worse the economy gets (or maybe more importantly, the worse the economy is perceived to be) the less expensive gas gets. Think about the last time it was this low, I'm guessing it was during the early months of COVID, when were all told to stay home. That was +/- April-May 2020.

Simply supply and demand. Oil producers need the cash so they keep pumping and out of work people can't buy it so the price drops to attract customers.

US crude oil production averaged 13.2 million barrels per day (mbpd) in 2024 and 13.4-5 mbpd in 2025. That nominal increase means dick as far as prices at the gas pump. Retail gas prices can vary within the country based on local taxes and also potentially based on proximity to refineries, but crude oil prices, which are the main driver of retail prices, are established on the international market. As others have suggested, lower crude prices are a sign of an economy under stress.

We’re still above $3 in Phoenix. Gas is cyclically less expensive this time of year due to less demand, but is higher in our state due to the supply coming from California refineries, which is more expensive to make. There is a new pipeline coming from Texas that will be completed in 2 years which will lower AZ gas on the market by 40 cents a gallon. Not only does supply a demand matter, but so does the location of refineries and how it is delivered. Colorado, Kansas, and Iowa have better access to those refineries producing affordable gas.

^ should have said Phx has comes from CA refineries. I think Tucson comes from Texas and the metro area has additives included to increase costs/prices.

Another refinery is closing due to CA's anti-fossil based fuel policies, without it we'll be back to the 1700s. Supply/Demand pricing, and this effects Phoenix. I'm a Supply-Sider, when govt gets involved it always gets expensive and VERY BAD. (Good luck NYC or should I say welcome to The Project v2!!!!! Nice knowing you!)

If the economy is "under stress", as the MSM pushes that narrative and the Powell pushed GDP would be 1.8%, why was the latest QDP number at 4.3%?

I get unemployment rose to like 4.6%, I get a lot of federal workers were laid-off, just like the private sector does. I get there is not one magic number. I get a lot of 20s/30s-somethings are having a problem getting work; maybe the college degree they got can't be monetized?

This is a very complicated global economy that is evolving like we saw with the Industrial Revolution of the late 1800s, the Information Revolution we saw in the 1980s-2000, then the Internet Revolution. And now we have this AI Revolution that we really have no idea where it will take us.

One thing I'm pretty sure is as minimum wage goes to $15, $20, $30/hr in Dem-controlled cities, Capitalism/Free Enterprise (while we still have it) will find a way to handle it, like low-wage, fast food workers, homes being built, nursing home workers, etc being replaced with humanoid robots with maybe 1 or 2 humans at the facility. I use Mister Car Wash and they typically have 2 or 3 humans, the rest is automated and you vacuum the interior yourself and it is great. WalMart use to greeters, and now 1 person manages the self-checkout coral of 8 self-check stations - that 8 jobs eliminated. Groceries and drive-up pick-up as we are a lazy society will be handled by humanoid robots. Buy gas, use to be a guy would check your oil, wash your windshield, check your tire pressure and PUMPED YOUR GAS (well, NJ still pumps it for you, and something like that is in Portland when i was there in March.) Look at a massive warehouse, and robots are motoring all over the place, HELL, home vacuum do your floors, kind of good.

Enacting major changes to America's economy takes time, it effects people, the world's economy, and now we have the OBBB (I so detest that name) that hasn't really kicked in.

It's easy to sharply increase/decrease spending, govt or private, however the effects of it can take a over a year or more to see the results. And look, if the OBBB bombs, the Dems will get Congress and effectively neuter Trump and get another Dem POTUS in 2028. HOWEVER, if the OBBB works as planned, everyone will benefit only the Left will continues to BITCH about it - never ever happy, they want everyone to be miserable. And, Conservative will enjoy the fruits of the OBBB and be very happy.

πŸ”Ί In Person $$$ Dollar Bills Flying, Music, & The Girls Needing To Feel Glamorous Outside Their Home Should Be A Safe Bet That $Strippers Are Not Going Anywhere Despite The Hype. The $Strippers Don't Wanna Stay Cooped Up In Their House, & They Like The Club Atmosphere, Pole Dancing, Pvt Dances, Food, Etc..... Atleast There Is More Women Than Men, So There Will Always Be Girls For Cover! Some $Strippers @ Da' Club Has A Boyfriend Or Is Married, & That Shows How Much The Girls Like The $Strip Club! It Just Isn't Emphasized Or Talked About A Lot. OnlyFans Is Cutting Into A Piece Of The Market Share But I Don't Do It. Some $Strippers Use The OnlyFans As A Supplement For The $Strip Club & For An Additional Marketing Money Tool For Their Clients, But Atleast It's Not AI. AI & Robotics Is Sometimes Hyped, But It's Scary That Robotics Is Increasing In Auto Plants & Places Like Amazon Warehouses & Is Taking Away Jobs. Wal-Mart Self Checkouts, Self Travel/Airline Booking On Websites Isn't Good For Travel Agencies Jobs. Door Dash, Uber Eats, Etc Is Taking Away Waitress Jobs Because People Can Have Most Food Delivered Now, Not Just Pizza Like The Old Days. It's Like A Domino Affect With Online Clothing Ordering Vs In Store Shopping. I Wonder About' The Percentage% Of Factory Robotics With Clothing/Apparel.

πŸ”Ί Came across this article about pizza stores going down & fast food deals going up, I wonder the trends in people's areas of what people is seeing in their area of pizza to fast food comparisons. I have noticed a lot less pizza delivery vehicles so delivery services like Door Dash & Uber Eats is effecting market share. πŸ”Ί I keep a balance of hand made sandwiches, plate dishes & pizza so I don't get "gagged" of too much of one thing! I think gas station pizza, taquitos, burritos & hot dog stuff is crossing people's minds of being cheap, convenient but still good. I like it all!!!!!!!

In a just a few years, UberEats and GrubHub drivers will be heavily replaced by WAYMO and other autonomous delivery ground vehicles, and eventually drones which are being tested now. Prescription drone delivery is very realistic as drugs weigh so little. Just don't let the dog answer the door. The Drug Drone story was discussed on the All In pod last summer,

Avatar for stripperlover777

πŸ”Ί @ mogul1985 - good info, & talking about drones, I noticed a lot of drones being used on the ocean beaches & in the woods for ariel photography views, I wonder how that effects the photography jobs & independents will have to invest in more money for drones, the good side is that you can use them for places you don't wanna walk or drive in, so in theory, if you don't wanna go out in the ocean or trecherous wooded areas.
