Can this be changed…. Please?
Black Background

It isn’t just the background. Navigating the site is ugly. There is so much wrong with these new changes that I don’t know where to begin. Maybe the Founder would consider soliciting recommendations from the user community, eh?

Tapping the notifications button does not seem to work.
The pages run off the edge of my phone's screen.
Response times to taps can seem slow

usually view on a monitor. Do not care for the black background. Don't know how easy to make it optional; that would be best. Otherwise, I vote for white background.
Changes to tbe site do not improve it. I suggest reverting to the old site.

Which old site? In my 10 or so years here I can recall at least 5 other versions, IMO the new 'upgraded' versions often aren't better than the previous version.
BTW the 'more discussions' links at the bottom of each topic are excessive IMO. I counted the links below the last comment in this and another thread, there are 9 other discussion links below both threads. That's a lot of unneeded scrolling to go through, especially the links with the extra large photos to scroll up when you have a habit of hitting the end tab button like i do to get past comments i already saw previously to get to the latest comments so threads with multiple comments you have lots of scrolling whether you start at the top or the bottom of said page. How about cutting the more discussions links down to 2 or 3 or better yet just eliminate those links.
This shit is fucked up
I agree with the comments that the black / white background should be optional. My computer has a "night mode" feature which automatically changes the screen to a black / white background presumably to make it easier to read at night, but it also allows for this feature to be turned off. The black / white background should be optional here, too.
^^ Some of us sleep at night, and use the computer during the day. Crazy, I know.
@founder can you add # of comments/most recent comment timstamp to reviews on the feed page?
The aesthetics of this site reminds me of Xanga or Vampirefreaks or maybe even MySpace back in their glory days
I personally prefer the black background. I often login at night with the lights off just before going to sleep. But I do understand how other folks would prefer the white background.
There are two changes I’d like to suggest:
-
For each category in the forums, present a checkbox for each category that I want to see. And save that setting in my profile so that I don’t need to re-select each time I log in.
-
Also save my “Last Comment” vs. “Most Recent Post” selection in my profile.
And why did the text color change in my post above? I didn’t attempt to do that.
Can I assume the missing functions will return in time like happens every time the site updates? Need my Feed function so I don’t have to sort through every new review before coming to a club I know.
TUSCL is on the internet in the alternate timeline where the Federation is losing a war with the Klingons.
Don't let nicespice punk you too. Both of those websites have white backgrounds. At least on my desktop computer.
Didn't myspace have a black background by default? Maybe founder is really Tom.
^Wow, the backgrounds are indeed lighter on those sites. It looks like Vampire Freaks is now a clothing store instead of a message board. (Though it looks like people who were disappointed in losing their site made their own alternative called vampfreaks vampfreaks.com )
I guess when I was thinking of websites, I was really thinking more of the 2000-2005 era.
I vote for return to white background, or at least the option to chose between the 2.
This is more like a throwback design. It's much closer to how the site looked when I first started posting on TUSCL.
Is this related to the "quest for white strippers" vibe that TUSCL often has?
I think that the white background is better. For instance, you can't read IfIgottabedamned's comment unless you try to highlight it. Same problems with some of the articles when the poster did not use black (therefore white) font but some other color.
On "Ifigottabedamned"'s post above, the indented content is barely readable. Same with bullet points on tuscl.net

Yes please? option to change?
