A good rule of thumb (not specific to strip clubs) is, don't be around people you're not willing to give the benefit of the doubt to. If you assume they're low-lifes just by looking at them, they will pick up on it, with the risk that the tension will escalate. Any bar, unless it's a true neighborhood bar, will be a more violence prone environment than average. The louder it is, the more violence prone. I've heard as many bad stories about the TGI Friday looking clubs (with quotas on black dancers and the bouncers in monkey suits) as clubs that are less full of themselves.
I've never been in, nor am I even aware of, any strip club that's "deep in the hood". If you can find any legal commerce "deep in the hood", it will probably be a store where everything you buy is passed through a slot in the plexiglass.
For me personally, it's mostly not an issue, because a woman has to take reasonably good care of herself to be attractive to me. A woman who takes care of herself is not going to dance at a dangerous club. Since most PLs are attracted to women who take care of themselves, the club will have negative reviews.
