Spanish for Mongering: What do you want to know?

Avatar for RonJax2

I am thinking about writing a new version of my Monger's Guide to Spanish. The most recent version is here: tuscl.net

I mostly want to publish a new version to fix and leverage the new markdown changes on the site. The current article is tough to read because it renders poorly, for example, without headers on each section.

Questions for you all:

  • What mongering topics you wish you had more Spanish knowledge on?
  • What terms would you like translations for?
  • What Spanish knowledge would be useful specifically in the club?

Direct to the point @unclewillSea. But much more elegant if you do that while saying ¡Chúpame!

Not to throw shade on the effort or discourage it anyway, but it's tuscl and I have to divert the focus of the thread somehow....

I find that knowing a little Spanish makes communication harder. A cute saying here or there doesn't hurt. But if I speak a few sentences in good Spanish the girls tend to assume I really know the language and they'll come at me full speed with full on, slang laden Cubana lingo and I'm stuck there like a deer in the headlights.

When I explain I only know a little bit of Spanish, there's usually a bit of a giggle and its fine for a minute. But I notice they're much more prone to getting frustrated with communication challenges much faster than if I'd never let on that I know any Spanish at all. I find my self having to slow play it, acting like I don't know a damn thing long enough for them to accept the fact that they've gotta put in the work to communicate in English if they want to interact. After a while, I can help bridge the gap with my Spanish.

@dolfan, that feedback totally makes sense. I think one thing I might endeavor to do is suggest a "How to" for beginners versus intermediate speakers.

When I was a beginner speaker, I found at least being able to ask for specific positions/acts to be useful.

Talking like a tourist using google translate just makes you look like an even bigger mark.

@RonJax
What Dolfan said has been my experience as well, I’m very fluent in Spanish but because I’m hard of hearing I don’t like conversing in a noisy environment. My problem with speaking in Spanish is that I think in English and it takes me time to recall what I’m trying to say, what I’ve learned about bilingual speaking is that the folks that are conversational in both Spanish and English somehow manage to think in both languages simultaneously.

After spending 2 nights in Pompano, at Cheetahs Booby Trap and the Porthole I found more white and black dancers in South Florida than at any other time in the last 10 years and my pidgin Spanish, always beginning with No hablo espanol, yo lo siento mucho works just fine.

^ there’s definitely plenty of white and black American dancers, in Pompano, some idiot was trolling me for pointing this out, but they are there and plentiful.

My personal experience indicates that yes, they are in fact an idiot. There were at least 5 white/blondes on Sunday and Monday nights.

Fair enough Ron, and if memory serves you're a TJ guy, and the Chicas in Mexico are likely different beasts than the south Florida Cubans. Hell, from a language perspective the girls from Havana speak an almost different language than the girls from Santiago and Holguin. At least when they start with the slang.

As far as being plentiful white American dancers in Pompano, that's not been my experience. I mean, 3-5 on any given night sounds right but I'm not sure I'd call that plentiful. The black clubs have black girls, obviously, and they mostly speak English. I can't recall seeing more than 3-5 American girls of any race or nationality at DD/CP/BT in several years though. Maybe they're there and just aren't my type, I don't seek em out as I don't really have issues with the Cuban chicks. Or maybe I'm an idiot too...

I say the same kinda things as ski in Spanish. lo sietno, me espanol es muy malo. Solo lo se los palabras importante como culo, y tetas, y bebidas. And I usually playfully cop a feel of some ass & tits as I say those words, and offer her a drink when I get there. Later on I might have an epiphany and realize I also know the word for dance, when I ask for one. I've got some sorta variations in my bag. I might say know beautiful smile, hair, eyes, or use alternate words for tits or whatever, depending on my mood and the vibe.

Back to the original point of the thread, maybe some silly phrases like those and some playful ways to point out that my Spanish is limited.

I'm in same boat as Dolfan. I can speak just enough Spanish to get in trouble. I was married to a Mexican for 27 years. But I have had 2 bad experiences in VIP with Cubans at my favorite club just because of misunderstandings about price and service causing me to walk out . No mas.

To the girls youre just making yourself a mark.

If you actually speak Spanish and understand the culture they'll treat you very differently
