I’ve been here in Tijuana since Monday. I’ll have a more detailed report later this week, but I thought I’d share with the group a few tidbits:
-
when I arrived, there were no police roadblocks on the bridge heading into town, which was nice to see. I think the mayor didn’t like the fact that tourists were starting to avoid TJ because of the roadblocks, in which gringos would get pulled out of taxis and other vehicles and searched - sometimes losing money by all accounts. Loss of tourists - mongers and non-mongers alike - means loss of revenue, and TJ seems to be heavily reliant upon tourism.

I’m staying at Rizo de Oro this trip. I needed rest after last week was hectic for me, and Rizo’s quiet environment allowed me to get it. Got the Tropical VIP card, however there’s a big difference from my last stay. The 20% discount guys used to get at Senda Norte restaurant with the Tropical VIP card no longer exists, which is a bummer. Not sure why they stopped it, maybe I can find out before I leave. I know that with the HK VIP card, you still get 20% off at Azul.
-
the back space at Las Chavelas has reopened, but it’s a smoking area. There’s been a dancing pole installed and girls perform as the music is synchronized with that heard in HK (the front part of Las Chavelas still has its own music).
-
I’ve had two ladies so far that I’ve brought up to my room - Monica from HK on Monday night, and Fanny (a street girl) last night. Also had a fun afternoon yesterday at Chicago with a couple of waitresses and the DJ as we slammed down a few beers and shots - it was slow at the time. I think a lot of the dancers were looking on at us enviously.

usually I meet up with a wingman or two, but this trip I’m truly on my own for the first time. Today’s my last day here, so does anyone have any advice on how to operate solo inside the ZN?
All for now.

No advice, but it seems to me you are checking all the boxes. Kudos.
