Anora: Academy Award winner with good strip club scenes and sex scenesAno

ElectronmanToo much of a good thing is never enough
Anora won an Academy Award for Best Picture and the female lead, Mikey Madison, won best actress. It is a model day Cinderella story but, in this case, Cinderella is a stripper/sex worker and Prince Charming is a douche bag.
Nevertheless, it has some good strip club scenes and some decent (R rated) sex scenes. And the movie seems to. have generated some appreciation and respect for sex workers.

last commentI didn't see it but this description makes it seem like an art house Pretty Woman and Pretty Woman sucked. And I have respect for everyone until they show me I shouldn't and its sad a movie is needed to create that.

^Pretty woman is a great movie. You need a romance transfusion bruh.

I look for things to like, even if not perfect rather than things to hate because they are not perfect. I too liked Pretty Woman.

For what it's worth I liked both Pretty Woman and Showgirls. Elizabeth Barkley was very hot in Showgirls. Agree with Geordie that the second half of Showgirls was not nearly as good as first. It wasn't Academy Award material but I wax a frequent visitor to Las Vegas in the 80's and enjoyed the local scenes.

My favorite movie stripper was fit super milf Marissa Tomei in The Wrestler.

There are no clubs anywhere near me that are like the one in Anora. But she's decently hot, and the sex scenes were okay for a light R rating.

Besides whores, I love movies. I watched 5 of the Academy Award nominated movies. While I enjoyed Anora, I didn't think it was worthy of "best picture" because basically she just a whore that finesse a Russian billionaire's son. She never was in love with that kid, just in love with the money
Now the story of Emilia Perez was orginal. A transitioning murderous drug cartel member. Yeah, it's a musical, but I reward originality.

I agree with Garfield. Emilia Perez was a better movie than Anora. Actually, I also liked Conclave, which has an interesting ending.
But if (a big "if") Anora elevates the status and acceptability of sex workers, I'm happy with its recognition.

I saw the movie today. It's been released back to some theaters due to the Academy Awards victory I guess. The Strip club scenes are good. So is her side hustle as a pseudo escort. The movie itself was awful. 2 stars out of 5. Way too long. I'm glad I only paid the matinee senior ticket price. Decent size audience and a number were saying as we exited "what was that ".

@Electronman @59
I never viewed Anora/Ana as a sex worker. She was a stripper that would do extras. A sex worker is a bitch that works on Figueroa in LA or in the the De Wallen district in Amsterdam. She made most of her money dancing, not getting pounding out. Them hoez at HK service about 10 dudes a night. That's why I like to catch them around 7 or 8 while they are on the Las Chavelas side. Then I got my stache of bitches that no longer work in the bars and make house calls to where ever hotel I might be staying.
I gotta check out Conclave. Maybe I'll watch it in between NUTS at Cascadas this week. We'll see.

Now that would make for an interesting contrast, watching Conclave while partying in Tijuana! Conclave focuses on the behind the scenes politics involved in the selection of a Pope. I am not religious (far from it!), but the behind the scenes politics was interesting. However the movie was pretty slow.
I think I have a more inclusive definition of sex worker. Any woman (or man) who makes a living by selling adult services would qualify for me. This would include strippers (even if they don't do extras), escorts, massage parlor workers (only if they provide some level of extras) and actors in porn movies.

@electronman, I think you're dead on with your SW definition. I know non extras strippers who proudly refer to themselves as sex workers. I'd add Only Fans models, at least the majority, and Cam girls. Anora is 100% a sex worker and a proud one at that.

@garfield84, I went and looked at the nominees. I didn't know they had 10 these days. Used to be 5. I saw Conclave and AComplete Unknown and would rate both significantly higher than Anora. Haven't seen the other 7.

@Electronman Yeah, I'm in my room now after a disappointing session with a chick I had many times before. I'll review that in my next review of HK, but to make a long story short she has cut back on the freaky shit she use to do. Almost to the point where I didn't want to go through with it.
Anyway. I've been doing work and working out at TJ fitness in between BG fuck sessions. There this one girl on Coahuila that sparks my interest. But I'm so grossed out by getting a street girl.
So I doubt I will watch Conclave.
And yeah, unless that bitch sell sex as a primary form of income, she ain't a sex worker IMO.
Street Walkers
Hoez in the windoww (i.e. Amsterdam)
legal brothels
FKKs
Escorts
Those are sex workers.
Strippers like Anora/Ana are the far seedier than any of the above. They are professional finessers. That's what that bitch was. I know many people on this site that pay for a bitch to fuck and she doesn't do a thing. Strippers are the lowest of the low.
You don't experience any BS like that in a legal sex trade.

@Garfield
Two problems with your definition:
What is "sex?" Does a HJ or a titty fuck count? Would you count a BBBJ but not a CBJ (after all, skin to skin contact might be a defining feature of sex for some people). How about mutual masturbation? What if the girl cuts back on her offerings (as your favorite did)? When does she cease to be a sex worker.
Problem 2: "as a primary form of income." I know several women who have well paying jobs during the week and supplement their income as escorts and/or strippers on the weekend. By your definition, they would not qualify as "sex workers" because their primary form of income was their regular job.
I prefer a broader definition...... but I'm OK with us disagreeing.
