Good/Memorable album covers

Muddy
USA
Shailynns recent thread got me thinking about albums. One cover and I recently found this out was Steely Dan's Aja. I never really looked closely but it's actually a Japanese woman in a traditional dress all blacked out. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/image…

To me that's a cool one.

There's some ones you just know don't even need to read anything: dark side of the moon, abbey road, nevermind, 1984, appetite for destruction, born in the USA etc. but what do y'all got?

Too many great album covers from the 60’s to the late 80’s for me to even narrow it down. Back then that was how they promoted the album was with creative artistic cover. Part of the experience walking into those old record stores was going in to look at all the album covers and enjoying the art on that label. Couldn’t wait to see Blaack Sabbath or Ozzy Osborne’s albums come out and see them in person.

* Iggy and The Stooges Raw Power
* Slayer Reign in Blood
* Minor Threat Minor Threat
* Motor Head Ace of Spades
* Corrosion of Conformity Eye For An Eye
* My Bloody Valentine Loveless

* NWA Straight Outta Compton
* Black Flag Damaged
* The Who The Kids Are Alright

and of course, Spinal Tap Smell the Glove.

Led Zep - In Through The Out Door. There were several different sleeves that were watercolor paintable. My friends and I were like 11-12 years old. We all bought the album and didn't give any thought to how iconic that would become... we just painted the shit out of them.

I forgot to mention that I used to masturbate to the Whipped Cream cover when I didn't have any porno mags or wait for the proper music video during the summer as the parents were working (pre internet of course.....).

I remember being really, really stoned and marveling at Led Zep Physical Graffiti cover. I remember thinking, “Yes, I get it, that’s physical graffiti.”
I also read the little booklet with the story of Jimmy and the Mods that came with The Who Quadrophenia album.

Oh, I jacked it to the Whipped Cream album cover too. I couldn’t believe my religious parents actually bought it and had it in the house.

Big stones fan - I liked Let it Bleed and Sticky Fingers- the original Sticky Fingers had an actual zipper on it but when they would stack them for shipping it would scratch the record- so they had to discontinue it- I imagine they are collectors items
Also like Bruce- Born to Run

this album: Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass- Whipped Cream and Other Delights...

i was born 5 years after this album was released. so the guys who were around in '65: this was one prime example of jerk off material that was available during that time? and was it even more than remotely possible that album could also be banned from being sold in countries e.g. india?

60 years from herb alpert album covers to onlyfans leaks.

My favorite album cover, hands down, is Elton John’s “Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy”.

Good topic!

Scorpions - Lovedrive
A classy-looking couple in a car with her tit exposed but covered by stretched out bubblegum. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/e…
On the back cover you saw her tit without the gum. https://vinyl-records.nl/heavy-metal/sco…
And the Blackout album - the dude with the forks stuck in his eyes! https://i.discogs.com/WHo103FZ7BN6VhSO0v…

Roxy Music Country Life.
I never had the album, but I always took a good long look at it while perusing albums at the record store. Incredibly hot models, who, in my mind, the guys in the band were banging:

It's no contest, the winner is the original Mom's Apple Pie cover!

I’m surprised no one has mentioned The Dark Side of the Moon. Has to be one of the most recognizable iconic covers of all-time. Simple but elegantly complex.

I think I first jacked off to the back cover of Kiss, Hotter than Hell. It had a star obscured tit on the right top side. Link below. Jerking off was pretty easy in elementary school. lol

I totally agree with TheeOSU about the Mom's Apple Pie cover. I remember seeing that in the record store bin when it came out, and I was just amazed that it actually made it past the record company execs.

I always thought that Little Feat's "Sailin' Shoes" album cover was a bit of a play on that Mom's Apple Pie cover. Not as explicit, of course, but still...

Herb Alpert's "Whipped Cream" cover is one of the most parodied covers ever. Here are just a few examples:
