3 Albums - Pick Wisely

shailynn
They never tell you what you need to know.
If you could only listen to 3 albums for the next year anytime you got into your car (no radio available) which 3 albums would you pick? I’ll even let you cheat a little and allow 1 pick to be a greatest hits/boxed set.

I have 5,000+ music files on my computer. I used to burn Cd's to play in my car but my new 2024 Mustang does not have a CD port...old technology. So now I have USB stick with 1,009 songs on it. What is a radio?

Just 3 albums ? OK, I'll give you the 3 types of albums I'd pick: One would be kick-ass rock & roll, another movie theme songs, and 3rd would be best of John Barry concerts. Something for a wide range of whatever I feel like at the moment.

Miles Davis Kind of Blue
Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti

and since you didn't limit the box set to a single artist
Left of the Dial: Dispatches from the '80s Underground - 80 some songs on 4 cds that covers fairly comprehensively 1980's college radio.

1. Police - Message In A Box: Complete Studio Recordings
2. Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
3. Robert Plant - Principle of Moments

First 3 that popped into my head where I do not have to skip one single track on any of these albums.

Ask everyone how old they are without asking how old they are.

Oh wow, ONLY three...

1. A Winter's Solstice, Volume 1 (various artists)

An incredible compilation. Two of my all time favorites are on this album: Liz Story's "Greensleeves" and Mark Isham's "A Tale of Two Cities".

2. Joni Mitchell - For the Roses

3. AC/DC - Highway to Hell

Answering this before I read others' lists so I don't change my mind:
The Very Best of the Eagles (33 songs), assuming compilation albums are acceptable
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Queen II

Wasn't expecting to see OP's choice of Robert Plant - Principle of Moments. Very good album, I bought it too upon release

@DeclineToState - Regarding Robert Plant, I was in kindergarten when that album came out. I was heavily influenced musically by my much older sibling. I was never a huge fan of Led Zeppelin but Robert Plant backed by Phil Collins in the 80's was amazing.

@jaybud999 - I really debated putting Vivid on my list, and Operation Mindcrime is a masterpiece as well. Geoff Tate was amazing on that album.

@shailynn

I got super lucky last fall. Living Colour played an outdoor concert with probably a max capacity of 2000 people......there were maybe 500 people in the whole space set up for the concert, half of which were milling around at vendors. Vernon was smashing away, and Corey was walking around in the crowd singing for a couple of songs....it was amazing.
