Millstream Food Feedback Discussion

Millstream prides itself on its food, with their partnership with a local butchery, and their food specials. Right now, the website's menu page is down and I haven't been there in awhile but why not put a place to discuss our favorite club's efforts at food.

You know, for me, giving feedback in da club when it's busy, or even slow, is either impossible or you sound like a nut. But part of me roots for this place and I want them to improve, and it seems like at least the last management group cared, so why not do it here. who knows, maybe they read this stuff.

Generally the steaks have been great. The Thursday night Steak Night, however, is hit or miss as they seem to wildly vary what they actually put on the plate, it could be a foot-wide 1/4inch thick, sliver of meat or a righteous thing. I would suggest they just go to something reliable like skirt steak or hangar steak. The salad it came with was ok, don't get too fancy guys, with unpalatable fancy green shizz...although if you want fancy do a small wedge.

The shoestring fries are the tits, get them on/with everything.

I thought the chicken tenders were bordering on really good.

Two problems, the batter was too salty but great texture and the chicken itself was generous.

The second problem is the sauces. I've had a few goddawful sauces. The honey mustard tastes like it came out of an old kraft salad bottle very uninspired almost not worth it. I remember one wing sauce was radioactive red sugar and I was like "this doesn't seem right."

When they do celebrations and have buffets or whatever, they do go all out with raw bars and other real food.

Anyway, that's all I got for now, next time I eat there, if somethings off, I'll shout out. Any thoughts from fellow millstreamers?

This review belongs on Yelp.
I also like their food, but don't like the menu price increases over the past few years.
Millstream's ownership owns the beef farm that supplies the Millstream kitchen and another plain restaurant called Woodstock Inn. Seems doubtful that Millstream would garner the prime cuts in the restaurant hierarchy, but still not bad.

Seeing the heifers who dance at Millstream makes me believe the food must be good, or at least filling.

dayshift is a good time to get free samples as the kitchen tries out new recipes, and a really good time to give food feedback.

Did they stop doing the oyster bar?

Oyster bar, that's a good question. I get the feeling the new management is slacking off. The website's food and party pages haven't been updated in forever. I never go to Friday's happy hour but the website's functioning weekly special page still lists oysters as part of that buffet.

I assume it's new management because the thing about the mill is they're usually having fun, more so than other clubs, you know: costume parties and buffets. But not recently. IDK, maybe put Desira in charge of events, she'd keep the website updated.

Aside from a few birthday parties for the girls, no real events this year.

On the upside, the smashburger was pretty good based on a recent visit.

It’s not new management. Scott still owns the place. Casey moved but Lilly and the other managers are there. Scott was always prone to making changes, and the club’s crowds are down so he’s tried a lot of ways to grab extra bucks from the customers and dancers (who get it from the customers). The free Friday buffet was gone during covid, but they brought it back with the oysters a year or two ago when they needed it to draw customers. Dance and vip prices are up, as well as the $22 dancer drinks the girls have to sell or get sent home early. The club has done way less birthday or party promotion. It’s all just cost cutting by the same old owner. It’s still a good club, but back in its hey day there were some special times had here.

Wow! Increased dance and VIP prices, as well as $22 lady drinks. No wonder business is down. Why would anyone pay those prices, when there are places nearby where much more fun can be had.

As a place that is merely just a "bar with strippers", those prices are a bit much.

What are the dance prices and is it possible to get good mileage or too restrictive?

Thanks, hank. I thought a girl told me there were new owners or whatever last year. IDK, guys update that website. On the other things:

Even with those dumb signs all over the place, the girls still expect you to match the club's dance price and maybe a tip on that. Maybe figure out a way to list dances with the tip included, like list prices like 30 minutes 300(175/125) to show 175 for the club/125for the girl's tip which could ease sticker shock when a girl wants 175 plus the club's 175...

The $22 girl drink is a random thing that hits you depending on when you're sitting with the girl, right? They have to sell one...or is it each punter has to drop 22.

The pricing signs are because employment law requires tips to be paid voluntarily. In order for the club to meet minimum wage requirements and only pay the dancers a tipped employee wage (like a waiter or waitress), neither the club nor the dancers can say that their tips are set prices. It’s meant to protect the customers from paying a mandatory price to a tipped employee, but all it does is confuse guys who aren’t regulars and put the girls in a position where they have to confront customers on price. Not good for anyone just trying to have a good time and truly trying to ask “how much does the room cost?”

On the dancer drinks, the girls have to get a customer to buy one for them. I think it’s only one drink per shift but it might be more. They’ll either ask if they can have a drink, or the bartender will ask. The customer can always say no. Just know ahead of time it will cost $25 incl tip and the bar will give $5 back to the dancer. I find that gimmick annoying but I’ve made my peace with it. I buy less drinks now.

Interesting comment about girls demanding matching tip, considering it was, I believe at Millstream, that I saw a sign in restroom, stating that tipping is optional, and you should communicate with management if girls are pushing for tips.

They also made a point to state that they are the only club in the area complying with the law regarding employing dancers.

it's all part of the dance to comply with regulations to stay open, I'm sure...like the various BYOB places. Obviously, any girl can refuse to dance with you, whether it's because you stink, you're creepy, or you're not gonna tip.

so the girls are technically wage, not tipped, employees but...these girls are being polite to you and naked on stage for $50 a week.

Being "polite to" PLs? Comical? It's their chosen job. But yes...I do understand that they can compose to do/not do XYZ.

The issue with matching tip in advance, though, at least for unknown girls, is that you pay double for a mild LD, when you can drive a few miles and have an open menu.

Hank, interesting point you mention on tips, because there are definitely some dancers who will tell customers a tip is required after the dance. I knew one who even said some nonsense like a 40% tip is required. This was for standard lapdances not any sort of extras. I assume that their tricks would only work on someone mentally disabled or someone very foreign with no idea of what’s going on, but it’s still scamming nonetheless.
I think its fine if a dancer wants to set their own prices or have obligatory tips if they inform the customer upfront.
